Virginia Democratic Primary tomorrow for Governor

OpenCarry.org has been pushing for people to go out and vote for Brian Moran in tomorrow's Democratic primary for Virginia governor, not because he's pro-gun, but to punish Creigh Deeds - far and away the most pro-gun of the three Dems running to take on Bob McDonnell in the general election - for flipping from opposing closing the 'gun show ( Read more... )

One of my co-workers used to work for McAuliffe. Biggest asshole she ever met, regardless of political stance.

I heard the same thing about Williams before he was elected Mayor of DC - aloof and really didn't care about the voters.

I was wondering who you'd be voting for.

I've heard that the Republican in both Virginia and New Jersey are the front runners.

Deeds. He's certainly more conservative than I am, but I wouldn't mind him as a governor. Far better than the Republican alternative. And I think he'd be much more likely to get things done with the state Senate and House of Delegates than either of the other two Democrats (and more likely to get elected in the first place).

I've voted for two Republicans in my life: former Rep. Tom Davis every time he ran since I was able to vote (except for 2000, when I was so liberal I almost picked Nader over Gore), and former Sen. John Warner the one time he ran since I was able to vote. I'm happy to vote for moderate Republicans, but McDonnell is just too damned conservative.

Aww, man, I miss your uberliberal days :P Remember when we were all into legalizing marijuana??

I'm torn as to if I should even vote, but from what I've heard, Deeds would be the best Dem to go up against the republican candidate and win.

I know the front runners thing is certainly true in NJ, but in Virginia, I think the fact that McDonnell runs ahead of a matchup with any of the three may be due to the fact that the Dem nominee hasn't been chosen yet. Once that's happened and they've both had time to campaign, THEN I think the polls will be meaningful.

Well, at least you Virginians have better gun freedoms than we do in California.
