Due to my copy being about 70 miles away from me in the possession of
pavanne I felt justified in torrenting a (fairly blatantly) OCRd copy to read myself. I finished it about 1am this morning.
The first thing that struck me as I was reading it was how close to a lot of the fanfic I've read it was. I mean, the language wasn't as polished as it could have been, there were periods where nothing happened and then everything happens at once. It felt unbalanced and hurried. Not to say I didn't enjoy it, as I did, but it's not (IMHO) as good an all-round story as #5 was.
Dumbledore's death wasn't a complete surprise (I'd heard so many rumours) but the manner was still a shock. Things are definitely set up for an interesting book #7.
Had curry on Wednesday night with
Auron,
leafyd, tigger,
inertia, Neill and Stu, which was great. We all got minorly sloshed in a pub (not as bad as last time...) in Liverpool Street first and then headed to Brick Lane for half-price curry and free drinks. It was good to see the guys again.
Jury Service continues apace - I reckon we only have another week to go. The events of 07/07 delayed us a bit but we seem to be back on track now.
