Big fat TV review post

Sep 06, 2010 14:26

I feel like giving my opinions on stuff and this is the internet, so why not? Whilst I was away from LJ, I watched a prodigious number of TV box sets. Here is my run down of them for your reading (and perhaps viewing) pleasure. It's fairly unlikely you won't have seen them already, but if not, maybe it will be useful. And if you have, you might ( Read more... )

"well, if I tell you that we renamed Jamie’s cock “the narrative” whilst watching this programme, you will get an idea"

Um, Miss Hall, that suggests it had a name before which is not the case. It was just that seeing as Rome had a cock-driven plot I thought I should bring that same cock-centered fun in to the world around us.

If you are ever in doubt my friends just ask yourself this - Does it serve the narrative.

I thinkw e've shared to much my dear.

I think I meant that previous it was named "Jamie's cock". Let's stop talking about your cock now.

She's right about Mad Men, nobody gets gutted in it, or fed to pigs, or tortured by drug dealers but my god it is *desolate*.

On the plus side Christina Hendricks somehow makes the accordion sexy...but in the great balance of things that's not much of a counterweight.

You see, somehow I managed to not mention Christina Hendricks. Review fail.

No worse than me not noticing her in Firefly because I was mooning over Fillion's braces or some such idiocy.

Didn't I have to point out The Boobs in The Wire as well? Too busy concentrating on the plight of the American working classes, that's your problem.

I really have a lot of time for Tim Roth (he has the only good line in Rob Roy for starters, something like "at the time I had no idea whether it was a boy or a girl" as his dissolute aristo talks about his latest conquest), and you are completely spot on about 'bollocks'

Whats the concept of Lie to Me then ? I know nothing.

I wish I could concentrate on TV, The Wire looks great from what little I've seen,(I've even gone so far as to buy the first series) I just find it hard to settle down and watch anything more demanding than Gardener's World or Come Dine With Me.

It is worth it if you can find the time/energy.

Such shows have been known to appear on our box, along with Bargain Hunter, Gossip Girl and Strictly Come Dancing (new series starting soon!).

Bargain Hunt, Bargain Hunter is the US version where people carjack antiques dealers.

Oh. I had vaguely hoped that Bargain Hunter might be a mall-based reimagining of Relic Hunter...

I like my idea better...

Yay! It's not just me who didn't like Rome!

I need to catch up with the later series of Mad Men and The Wire. Love em both though.

Big love from me n J :)

We just borrowed series 3 of Mad Men. So far, it is even more tense and the characters are being even more emotionally stunted.

I just thought Rome was very shoddy, poorly written and a terrible waste of, what was it, pushing $100 million (of which the BBC stumped up $9) - well those were the figures I heard quoted.
