You know how every so often someone gets fed up with LJ and deletes the whole thing, or says they are going to stop posting?.....not that i'm going to do it, but has anyone else noticed? also, no one tends to stay gone.

No one stays gone you're right. The only way you're actually going to be free from it is if you never post in it again- if the need for posting disintegrates, for whatever reason. If you delete it, you're going to be conscious of the fact that you deleted it and that you've made a statement by doing so- but the statement is just another kind of the attention-whoring that is the soul of livejournal, so it's no good to try and do that;)
