In the wee hours of my birthday, a question arises. Why do people have a fascination with alcohol? I don't get it. If you can get it, you're cool. If you drink it, you're cool. It's mainly because it's kind of a forbidden fruit we're not allowed to have until we're 21. Kids think they're so bad ass by breaking the rules and going against the Man and the Establishment they hold in their own minds, and inevitably they act macho and think they can drink so much until they pass out, get sick/drunk/hangover, etc. If we don't know about something, we get fascinated by it and pursue it in secret until eventually one becomes mildly obsessed with it. The same exact thing happens with sex. There's also a certain factor of people our age having a hell of a lot of growing up to do in terms of wisdom and looking for something beyond the stark, material world that is immediately apparent to us and allows us to have instant gratification
