lalittlecricket, re I'm thankful for the beautiful snow that has blanketed the grass and all of the intricate tree branches, and thankful for those who worked to get it off the road!

I noticed you're in Illinois. I grew up in Downers Grove, and spent quite a few (as in "too many") years in Champaign-Urbana as a student. I'm in San Diego now, and really miss snow. I hope to visit my parents in D.G. for Christmas, though, so maybe I'll get to see some then.

Yep, I live due west of Chicago; about an hour outside of the city. I grew up just a little further east than where I am now. Downers Grove is southeast of where I am right now. I have relatives from the Woodridge/Downers Grove area. All of my cousins from that family went to one of the Downers Grove high schools--either North or South--I can never remember which!
