Yanno those little carts with the wheels that business people get to tote their laptops and stuff around? Those are livesavers. Then again, I never got one and dealt with severe back pain all 4 years of high school. Blergh.
Which school are you in? I'm thinking South, but not certain.
Honors English 11 was fun, yep :) AP English 12 was a little less fun, due 110% to the teacher I had.
Urg. Don't you hate it when you have a great wonderful class you've been waiting for all your life, and it's destroyed because the teacher sucks? Of course, sometimes you get a wonderful teacher to spice up an uninteresting course, as happened with my biology this year. I dislike biology....
But, hah! I have got a locker now--so far the school has been amazingly compliant, or possibly just stunned that anyone would go so far as to challenge the party line, and have given me everything I've asked for. Except for a licence to start a gay-straight alliance, but I'll rant about that in my journal later.
Yeah, I'm in South. I wasn't good enough for D-B. :) Ah well, their loss.
Just take care of yourself there. South can be rough at times and, justified or not (I vote not..), you have put a target on yourself for all the little hopped up urchins. Likely they are too stupid to really comprehend, but just keep your eyes open.
Are you allowed to have rolling backpacks? If so, that's what I recommend (having goofed up my own shoulders with backpacks that heavy). Not allowing students to have lockers is just *silly*. Honors classes ROCK. I took as many as I possibly could in HS. And I actually got kicked out of my biology class. The teacher knew I'd be bored to tears if I stayed, so she told me to borrow a textbook and take the placement test. I made a B, but Honors Bio I was offered the next year, so I took the class and made an A. The great thing about having to change that schedule was that I was ALSO able to drop World Geography and switch into AP European History, which I had wanted all along. And I did so well on the AP exam that I got TWO history credits out of it at my college.
Yeah, but the school is really not big enough for all the students it has, and a rolling backpack would likely be overwhelmed and summarily lost in the crushing mass of humanity that is five-minute class change. But I did manage to get a locker--twenty feet from my English class, the one with the heaviest books, no less! ^_^ Go me!
I may or may not yet be traded into Honours Geometry. I made the only A on the last test, despite having missed a good bit of the material and having to rely on stuff excellently drilled into my memory by my last math teacher. (And that's an American A, which is a higher percentage bar than a Canadian A. Hah!)
The rolling backpacks are good, but I personally didn't like them. A messenger bag type thing turned out to be my best bet... Used that sort of thing since sixth grade, and only minorly messed up my shoulders. Though it did teach me to walk half stooped over in a somewhat comical fashion, at times.
I did not KNOW about the honours English, and that rocks. *snuggles, apologizes for being bitchy and watching evil movies earlier* *loves* Also, owie, backpack from hell. :( Do *something* about it, especially if you have to walk the hill every day. Eeek!
