I drew a map of Canada with your face sketched on it twice

kd Lang makes me feel Christmasy, don't ask me why. Aside from angsty Canadian lesbian love songs, what else brings on that warm glowing holiday cheer? Why, spiked eggnog Christmas memes, of course!

Because I have nothing better to do at work when there are no customers.

My wish list )

geeky, christmas, fandom

Song meme reply:
9. Ain't No Sunshine--Bill Withers
13. Leaving on a Jet Plane--Peter, Paul and Mary
15. I Can See Clearly Now--Johnny Nash
20. Magic Carpet Ride--Steppenwolf (which I really think some enterprising DJ ought to follow with "Kicks" one of these days....)
And I'm guessing #14 is "Blame Canada," but I've never heard that song, so it's only a guess.

All correct, except Peter Paul & Mary didn't write it. Don't darken my doorstep again until you can get your covers straight!

(she said, who had been utterly convinced that Bob Marley wrote "I Can See Clearly Now". *thorough embarrassment*)

Ah, but the PP&M version is the most famous... truth be told, I've never heard another.
*looks up the right answer and blinks* Huh... whodathunk? (I won't say the answer so someone else can.)

Heh. Yeah, he/she/it/they/Bueller didn't exactly strike me as the type to write something so angsty. Actually, I've been looking for a version of 'Jet Plane' that I grew up listening to but can't seem to find--I've no idea who sang it, just that it was a woman and PP&M's version seems bouncy next to it. Maybe Janis Joplin? My totally legal, of course music downloading program is not cooperating.

Ar, I really need to keep up with my f-list. x_x I suck. *goes to download rocking Aussie tunes*

*tear* Hey, I have a friend who's visiting NZ, so you can give her the massage and she can pass it on to me! ^_^

Hey, I only go to NZ if I'm being paid lots of money to put up with Brendan Cole or to be in The Hobbit. No other reason.

:D I want to be in the Hobbit. Save me a place. And a plane ticket. Yeah.

All right then, but she's closer to you than I am...of course, with my luck, the two of you will elope together and I'll be stuck in Tennessee with no massages and no gay friends left.

Yeah, they're all correct.

Btw, is OLP Canadian? Because no one here has ever heard of them.

Of COURSE they are. There is no way they would get this much radio play here if they weren't. Was the Chantal Kreviazuk cover of 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' the one that you were looking for? She did it for the Armageddon soundtrack back in like '98.

haha, no kidding, they played 'Somewhere Out There' ten thousand times a day on Energy. And then stopped only for Avril Lavigne. *twitch* (No, I was never a raving Avril fangirl, shut UP.)

No, I still can't find the one I remember, but Chantal's close enough....

Song meme: 17 - I Love Rock and Roll - (I can't remember the person who had the original) Britney Spears
8 - Pink - Stupid Girls

7 seems really familiar, but I can't place it... :( Cause it sounds like something Katy Rose would sing.... but it isn't (cause I'm listening to the album and it's not been sung so now I feel confused... :| )

Haha, Joan Jett sang "I Love Rock & Roll"--please tell me you've heard the original and not just the cover (which I, er, wasn't fond of)?

No, that one's not Katy Rose. I think you know who wrote it though. More metal, fewer drugs. :)
