Bye, bye, Miss American Pie

Top five painfully microcosmic statements heard in America to make your blood boil:

5. 'Bisexual is just a fancy name for indiscriminately promiscuous. May as well declare at the press conference, "I have no idea who I am and, furthermore, am utterly incapable of making a commitment."'

4. 'Don't be a ( Read more... )

5. Often true of celebs--and more frequently true of 'gay' men than of bi women. Overgeneralization? Maybe. But that doesn't mean it isn't true at all.
4. John Edwards. 'Nuff said.
3. ... Yeah, that's a bit much.
2. And if we had socialized medicine, it would be "I can't get in to see the doctor."
1. Lemme thump him. Granted, I have seen bloggers from Africa say that the US ought not be involved because it would amount to throwing good money and effort after bad, and I do think we have more pressing national interests elsewhere that require a military presence, but that's no reason not to care about Darfur--ESPECIALLY if you're a Christian. The opposite of love is not hate; it's apathy.

Except you're wrong about that. There are a lot of people on LJ from countries *with* socialized medicine, so before you regurgitate 30-year-old conservative propaganda, be warned.

4. John Edwards. 'Nuff said.

Shallow Twit. Satis dico.

That statement was based on an observation by a Brit that in America old ladies compare the cost of their hip replacements and in Britain they compare how many years it took to get. And said Brit is no conservative.

He may be a shallow twit, but he's still attempting to be the face of the party. And he still has fangirls, as seen below. Perhaps a better retort would be the name of a truly manly, and gentlemanly, Democrat--I don't recall hearing of any of late. The only name that comes to mind is Zell Miller, who is a Dem in name only but a genuine Southern gentleman whom I respect greatly (and not only because of his politics).

A recent observation, I should say. As in within the last year.
It's also based on experience attempting to get into the campus health center once freshmen realize that they get ten 'free' visits to the doctor. Not the same, I know, but it's the same mindset.

Don't mess with John Edwards. He has mad-crazy groupies, like me. Still trying to figure out what the problem with a man with intellect, vision, and an incredible work ethic could be.

Yeah, I thought (southern) Virginia was bad! Yeah, because "Ah-nuld" is a real Republican, anyway?

*knuffles* Thank you, I was hoping someone would say it.

This isn't what all of TN is like, by any means. This is just the absolute worst of what I've seen over a period of a year and a half. But still....

Here's one I've been hearing lately (about Jose Padilla):

"Who cares, he's just another terrorist."

Makes me so mad. I'm not saying he's innocent, but can we at least treat him like a human being until we know?

Expecting human beings to treat other human beings like human beings is one of history's greatest mistakes. Sadly.

Sometimes I think I'm the only one left on the face of the world who thinks we should treat them like human beings even after we know that they're terrorists....
