1. you and your gingerbread men are too cute.
2. i have a powerbook, but lately i've been coveting an ibook. i don't know why. i haven't touched one but something about the white brushed plastic is so cute, and it seems more durable than "titanium" (aluminum). i love looking at geeky girls with geek glasses open their little white ibooks (mostly because i know they are teachers-in-training; UT requires them to buy ibooks, though i don't know why). i think a 14" ibook would be perfect for you for this reason ... they are cheaper too. this is all from aesthetic points of view, though. hehe ;)

Oh my, I'm totally going to make one of the remaining undecorated ones look like you! I'll show you when I do!!

See, I thought the aluminium would be more durable? Plastic to me = shatters when dropped?

iBooks are totally adorable, but they almost look adorable in a toy way. I'm worried that since it's going to be with me into the beginning of my PhD, I also worry that it might not look sleek enough. Not that I ever look "sleek" myself anyway!

i have a powerbook, but i would probably have purchased an ibook if i didn't need my laptop for video editing.

The iBook just got upgraded, so they're pretty sweetski now! The only downside is that (from hearsay and tech rumours only!) the iBook is more durable, but the parts are more defective (eg: you can drop it and it won't break, but they've had problems with the screens, i think)

Even though the Powerbook is great for hardcore applications, you can get the 12 inch, which is all the coolness of a Powerbook, but less cost and power. But if it's just for basic computer stuff, you can pretty much go with whichever one!

ALSO, TWO NIGHTS AGO I WAS TALKING TO LINDSAY AND SOPHIE ABOUT MY GIANT GINGERBREAD CRAVINGS.
just know that reading this post was painful!!

SOPHIE IS BALD. BALD!
OMG I TOTALLY WISH I HAD YELLOW PANTS/I'm happy to see you're feeding your body some iron so that you can survive long enough to hopefully hang out with me again some day:(

TO BE FAIR, it was bald or red/yellow anyway. And her head probably would have broken off if I tried anyway. COOKIE SOPHIE, WHY ARE YOU SO DIFFICULT!

I wish you had yellow pants too. The green smears on you are supposed to be sushis in your belly! Also notice how your smile is SO BIG because you are SO HAPPY to be feeding me iron!

We must hang out after my wretched week of midterms :(

gingerbread cookies, yum! i just bought an ibook... if you need nothing more than a sleek computer to do the necessary, then go for it. the powerbook is definitely an almighty force that i am not (financially) ready to play with.. maybe later when i am professional. i vote ibook!

The "professional" aspect is exactly my worry! I fear a white iBook, while cute, would be too cutesy to for a serious graduate-level scholar! Do you think they look too "young"? I'm worried that when I have to start going to conferences and such, I'm already going to be trying to fit in with stuffy political scientists who are way older than I am and who I need to impress with my professionalism!

Powerbooks are definitely $$$ but thanks to a humungo student loan and help from my mum, I could probably afford a small one. But the iBooks are sooo cuuuute.

The ibooks do look less professional than the powerbook, but not by far. I figure if you are hanging around a room full of stuffy political scientists who are computer consumers themselves, then they should know that there is not too much difference between the powerbook and the ibook really.. and you were smart to save a few bucks if you don't need the extra stuff the powerbook has. Although if you can afford a powerbook and are at all concerned about the ibook looking too young, then go for the powerbook. Either/or is a good investment. They seem to last quite a long time. Bref, I am a complete dud when it comes to technology. I feel like a granny poking at my computer and screaming obscenities because I have lost myself in crazy terms!! I say a big "Thank YOU!" to the student loans as well! :)

I am also pretty much a granny! I don't know anything about computers and end up making lots of confused faces at it when it is slow or makes funny noises!

All good advice, but I think you're right about being smart to save if you don't need the extras. C'EST VRAI!
