You know, I should have turned 22 years ago. I keep declaring that 22 is going to be the year of things. Year of getting on with life! Year of eating breakfast! Year of regrets I don't regret! Year of the whim! So far is is proving to actually be the year of many of these things. Also of tan lines and of reading things in contextually inappropriate ( Read more... )

The Fukuyama thing blew my mind too -- he started writing sane articles about a year and a half ago.

AT LEAST WE HAVE IGNATIEFF.

Give me a call this weekend if you're going for brunch or something! OR SOMETHING.

I am sitting at the airport watching the youtube once again. THAT is blowing my mind. THE FUTURE IS NOW!

Anyway, yes. I will def. give you a call at some point. I will likely be a huge stress case if apartment stuff doesn't go well. You've been warned :(

I am doing rather well! Life is being kind to me, and I'm being thankful for that. How is apartment-hunting going for you and Pascale anyway?

we found a place on flora. it's well, pretty. and will be even prettier when I get to decorate. with things like paint, and art... instead of junk and things my ex-roommates found on the street.

bwahaha @ that swing!! Eco wouldn't have taken a better picture himself!!
Also, my friend A. has The Exact Same black shoes and was seen bleeding all over Mediterane in them last month.

Those black shoes are basically the worst shoes of all time. But yet so cute that I can't not wear them. I have been bleeding all over five Canadian provinces in them since their purchase. Oy.

Oh oh! And could you email me your mailing address, my dear? I have a little mail to send you!

i CAN'T BELIEVE fukuyama did the daily show! thank you for posting that! geekyness is out of control right now, how excited i am.

i heard about his new book and was curious.. he still kinda makes me uneasy, though.

also, lovely pictures. nova scotia is so beautiful.

I can't believe it either! If it weren't for my weird obsession with watching everything Daily Show related ever on youtube, I would never have known! I didn't even know about the book at all. So out of the loop. Anyway agree totally about still feeling uneasy about him, but doesn't it give you a small sense of Hope For The World? Knowing that people can change, even when they start out raving lunatics?

yes it really does.. and i like that he admitted that the first two premises for invasion have now been proven as faulty, and so the only one left was the democracy argument. i feel better knowing that what was once considered opinion is now starting be accepted as fact.

a little piece of me is hoping that they have learned, and maybe that is why they are being relatively diplomatic with north korea so far? although that is a whole other can of worms *sigh*

I don't even want to start thinking about North Korea. The whole thing terrifies me even more than any other international event of late :(

great choice of literature, darling. i am not sure if any of those situations are actually contextually inappropriate in any way. i tend to read camus in my office and de beauvioir at the bar, so what would i know!?

you look so great propped on that swing with that expression of terse studiousness! i like how the cover of the book matches both the trees AND your backpack! weeeee!!

I actually am really into de Beauvoir's novels right now, and am really eager to start on her autobiographical trilogy when I get back to Montreal. It sounds so scandalous, which I love. And also knowing that the most brilliant people still fuck up and have problems makes me feel less maladjusted, or something. You know? Actually, come to think of it, I also have The Fall waiting for me in Montreal too. We're on the same literary wavelength!

Terse studiousness? More like sweaty sunblindedness!

Also, it occurs to me that you seem like the type who would be a really good penpal, and that we should really penpal it up. What do you say?
