This 'Dimensional Gate' is proving a lot more...frustrating than I had expected.

At first glance, it's obviously similar to summoning magic. It seems to behave opposite to what I'm familiar with in that, rather than creating a summoning circle to pull beings from another realm to the caster is in, it is a portal that transports beings in the realm

The dimensional gate is out of commission? I was told that its operator was simply missing.

It seems the excuses change on a weekly basis.

However, I've been entirely incapable of getting the gate to do...anything, so I would assume that it's broken, along with the operator being missing.

No, she seems to be...um, as strange as it is to say, it seems like she's actually hiding. Demons here seem to dislike doing their jobs. So, if she's missing, it could very well be because she doesn't...want to be found.

Best of luck with that. I only know enough sorcery to know that I have no idea what I'm doing with something this complex.

One imagines such comparisons as a child with a toy hammer asked to build a house. I wouldn't even know where to start.

Annoyingly, in my case, when I look at it, I feel as though I should know exactly how it works, but nothing I do...well, does anything.

It really is quite similar to my own magic, but the similarities seem to be far less helpful than one would think.

I would be careful with that thing. I've only once seen an artifact with that much power tied up in it, and that one destroyed a continent when it got out of control.
