First, and most importantly, I'm sending my thoughts and prayers to the people of Haiti. I can't stand to look at/read the news reports, but I can't not look at them either. It's just awful, and I wish I could do something--anything--to help these people. I'm feeling very small and helpless and useless here...and very, very lucky to live where I do ( Read more... )

First, I hope your bruises are healing from yesterday's mishap. :) And I hope all of your tests you were running were successful.

Bad things really do make you put things in perspective don't they?

Congrats on your nominations - I loved Suspicious Circumstances; but I need to read (reread) Matchmaker cause I think that was posted right around the time I first started to read and write fanfic - and due to the quantity I read then, I can't remember if I read it or not. And I have promised myself that I will read (or attempt to anyhow) all of the stories nominated before I vote (iz glad that I have already read 3 of 5 nominated in the long fic category). But I think my mouth dropped open when I saw I was nominated. So I guess I will be doing a lot of reading in the near future.

Congratulations on the nominations. Matchmaker is one of my very favourite stories and a whole heap of it is to do with your Ron because he's just so adorable in a very Ron-ish way.

I'm with Kathy, I have a lot of re-reading (and in some cases first reading) to do before I cast my votes. I'm looking forward to two weeks of serious H/G love :D

I'm reading through the entries now. I loved your matchmaker story so it was very great to see it get some love.

The situation in Haiti is miserable and puts all our lives into perspective. (The French have announced that they believe the head of the UN Peace Keeping Mission their and many of his staff are dead.) This is very wide ranging in who was affected.

I called my mom to ask if she felt anything in PR (Hispaniola is like, next door to PR) and because there were tsunamis watch for Cuba, Jamaica and other islands, but she told me she didn't feel a thing, in fact she didn't know it had happened. Apparently all the tremors were felt west of Haiti, so the Dominican Republic was spared as well. Dave mentioned that country is all messed up (he went there with the 82nd Div back in 93) back then he couldn't imagine how it is now.
