Hokay, so I haven't updated in freaking forever, and I originally intended to just write this for my Dickinson blog, but I feel it needs a little more CAPSLOCK AND SWEARING than I"m willing to give it there.

(I also can't be arsed to resize the pictures, so beware.)

Well, first off, here's the Liberty Bell made of Legos:

Way to go, Philadelphia. There's not much else to say about the flight over, except that I had a few moments of panic when I couldn't find the people I'd be going to the Centro with. We were all sitting on different parts of the plane, so we kind of lost each other in the crush of people disembarking. But we found each other, and my bank card works in the ATMs, so it's all good.

Where I'm staying:

I haven't gotten a picture of the building itself yet, or of my room, so the sign will just have to do.

Oh! Before our driver took us to the Centro, he brought us to a little overlook about five minutes away.

This was my introduction to Rome, by the way. All we'd seen on the drive up to that point had been highways and residential streets.

And of course, MOTHERFUCKING SAINT PETER'S BASILICA IS RIGHT THE FUCK THERE.

Oh, and as it turns out? The best park in Rome is TWO BLOCKS from the Centro. It's fucking huge, and we didn't get to see much of it at all today, but I did take a few pictures.

These are apparently umbrella pines? I don't know, but they're pretty. I wish we had them at home.

People ACTUALLY DRIVE THROUGH THIS ADFJSALKFJADSF L;K I MEAN I KNOW I'M IN ROME AND I SHOULD EXPECT THIS BUT IT JUST DOESN'T COMPUTE.

Is a church. There was a sign giving the time for its services, so I'm assuming it's still in use. I mean, it's silly of me to think otherwise, but I guess it's the same as with the arch: I'm just not used to people still using things this old/pretty.

HEDGE MAZE ALDFLAFL;LAKSDFJ (And about half our group started cracking Goblet of Fire jokes when they saw this. It's like a nerd contest.)

On our way out of the park, we were greeted by this... thing:

I just don't even.
