Man, I don't mean to rain on your parade here, but you can't blame his actions for your actions. I know that what you did was innocent enough, and that it shouldn't have so impacted your life as it did, but it was still your actions that got you disciplined as such. Not his.

You're a good dude. Plain and simple. Fuck the bullshit. So the navy didn't work out, that doesn't mean you give up and throw in the towel. Look at me. I was the mayor of nowhere'sville 4 years ago. Dropped out of bible school, barely in junior college, and strung the hell out on meth. Look at me now. I could (and will soon) work anywhere in the world, because I buckled down and focused at slowly becoming better and better at one thing.

Use that depression. Let it fuel the engine that drives you to fight your way to the top of whatever you choose to do with your life.

thanks bud, he is a great friend of mine. and you two are right, i know. you were right about me a long time ago though when you said i had a defeatist attitude. im still trying to overcome that. i miss you bud.
