Is this the newest version with the GPS? I'd like to take a look at it sometime, I was wondering if it was going to be too big for me.

If it makes you feel better I have to take 12500 steps to hit 5 miles :)

I think it was reading the GPS through my phone, which was in my pocket.

On the phone app, you can set to start your walk and it times it and traces your path.

I don't think the Fitbit does it without the phone. I think that comes with the higher level one.

I never even considered the short leg effect!
