Oh, I remember those. I never wore them because my goal back in middle school was to be "too cool" by avoiding everything that was popular. Don't ask me how that worked out. One of the other trends in Junior High was to collect the tabs from soda cans on a string and wear them as a bracelet or tie them to the zip of your bookbag. They were supposed to given to someone you want to perform some sexual acts with and the number of tabs was indicative of the number of times you'd put out. Oh kids...
i graduated from high school only in 2003 and they were around when i was in junior high, so that would be 1996-1998. Now they're much more popular with the 12-15 crowd in my (also suburban) area, but i was never aware of any sexual connotation, i thought kids only wore em cause avril did. picture, picture On the news a year or so ago there was a SPECIAL REPORT YOUR CHILDRENS SHOCKING SECRETS thing and I laughed at it because i thought it was all paranoid hype. but now i hear lots of people talking about how they represent sex acts. i had no idea they'd been around since the late 80's, i thought they were a recent fad.
Those didn't get popular in the states until just a few years ago. Then the TV news got wind of it and did a whole series of reports on the dangers of wearing jelly bracelets for kids.
I used to go to a dive bar with some friends that always put bagloads of them on the tables. We sort of thought they were overgrown cockrings. But we're sick like that.
ive never seen all different coloured ones but at high school we used to make them from the blue plastic bits inside coke bottle lids. jason broke janes, haha. fuck me bracelets, we called them. and some of my friends did wear them till they got, well, fucked.

In year 9, my friend and I swore not to remove ours until we had sex. They broke of their own accord a week or two later. ;)

And there's long been sexual experimentation amongst 12 year olds. Not a majority, but... Just maybe hasn't always involved rubber bracelets. ;)
