Yes, I can explain that. It's simple. Memory, why useful at times, is often VERY unreliable. And the farther in the past, the more unreliable it gets. It's also highly sensitive to suggestions: it's failry easy to make people THINK they 'remember' something that never occured. (Hence all these 'false memory' cases we used to have, where 'therapists' 'made' kids 'remember' how they were sexually abused by their own father when they were young ... )
