I worked on the Paddlewheel today... Nothing like using industral tools to enliven one's spirits.... But it seems everyone hurt themselves at least once on the boat... The Punmatic Hammer spunn off the bolt I was putting on and I slammed my hand into a 3 inch thick 2X4... I got a huge bruse on my hand... Looks like the Bahamas might be alot closer ( Read more... )

I didn't think a 2x4 could be three inches thick....unless it's got a one inch thick piece of wood attached to the back...just noticed that....thought it was odd....

ok, I'm gonna do this just because I can....

no offense, but a 2x4 indicates the length and width of a board... it CAN be 3 inches thick because it is a 3D object... so, basically what Adam was saying was that the board, in theory, is 2x4x3 (i.e. 2 inches wide x 4 feet long x 3 inches deep)

so, that's how it can be such an object...hehehe.. didn't take woodshop or math and not learn anything...

but anyway..moving on...

Adam, I didn't know you meant in the winter!! geez.. my bad, dude.. just remember..have your ass back in Louisville for late spring, early summer... (May/June-ish) it's gonna be a blast!!!! yay!!!!!!!!! ;)

|----| height 2 There really can't be a three inch only peice the 4 can be counted as a 3
|____| becuz you have to get to 4 by passing 3, but the fact is that it's not just 3
4 inches it's more.
width

I know this seems childish to discuss but it's true that the 2x4 just can't be three in any dimension other that possibly length. the height and width are set due to the fact that it is a 2x4.

considering I've worked with wood most of my life *smiles for what her dad taught her while she was in her tomboy phase which was 18 out of the 19 years she's been living*..
it's not that big a deal.. not worth continuing to discuss.. I'll stick to what I was taught versus anything else...

note to Adam: dude, be prepared!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've decided.... whether I've got a car or not... the last thing I've gotta wait on is money.. and I'm saving every dime I earn from work... so it shouldn't be a problem... yay!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oi vey, I just looked at this... get over it. It's a damn 2x4, it is not an important piece of life. No one here is a carpenter. Move on.
