It's funny how I also have a "Troy/Abed" ship of my own, but N/E came along and gave me all the feelings so early on & without any romantic canon to speak of. I'm usually not such a ~daring gambler ship-wise tbqh - for the sake of my own emotional well-being! - but for this very reason, if MK comes through for us, it's going to be my most gratifying ship yet.
lol, I also hang on to Haiti as Jack's future. I think it's important that the show has established Jack as someone with ~goals, and my headcanon is that Emily will want him to pursue it, but won't be up for coming along because while it's his dream, it's not hers. Besides, I don't see her tending bar if Jack decides to stay, and stateside, the bar is pretty much Jack's entire life.
I find Ted/Robin annoying and I don’t like their romantic dynamic, but they can be funny, and I like their relationship as exes.THIS. It's just baffling how the show apparently keeps ( ... )

I know what you mean. My ships tend to be either clearly canon, or clearly NOT canon (mostly of the slash variety), and at least with the latter I KNOW it's never going to happen, so there's no emotional energy spent on hoping for it. At this point N/E is in a weird in-between place. I kind of adore that -- you get the fun of hoping it might actually happen, but also the fun of searching out subtext!
Interestingly, my real, true, untouchable OTP of OTPs (Spike/Buffy) is actually a ship that started out totally non-canon and turned canon. I wasn't around in fandom back when that happened, and I've always been sad I missed out on the fun of watching an unexpected ship unfold. It would be SO AWESOME if the same thing happened with N/E.
It's just baffling how the show apparently keeps resurrecting them over & over. Stop beating a dead ( ... )
