spuffy_noelle gave me "M"
Martha Jones (Doctor Who)
"I travelled across the world. From the ruins of New York, to the fusion mills of China, right across the radiation pits of Europe."
First name that came to mind, of course. Martha Jones gets the shaft far too often when it comes to companion love. She is incredible -- compassionate, smart, and oh so very strong. Martha probably had the single hardest task of all of the companions when it comes to saving the world -- she had to walk the entire earth in a year, survive it all, and spread the story of The Doctor all on her own. And she did it. What else is there to say? Martha Jones is a badass.
Mitchell (Being Human)
"Do you people have any fucking idea who I am? My name is John Mitchell. And I've killed more people than you've met."
Second name that came to mind, also of course. I know a lot of people were turned off by Mitchell's arc in late Series 2 and Series 3, but I loved it. I'm a sucker for vampires struggling against, and giving in to, their dark side, and more than anything (BIG SPOILER FOR SERIES 3) I love that Mitchell eventually came to the conclusion that he had to die. That is such a rare thing in the stories of vampires attempting to redeem themselves while sometimes slipping up, but -- outside of Buffy-verse where the soul is an option -- it's really, objectively, the most moral choice. It was such a fitting end to a great character.
Mallory Archer (Archer)

"AN ERECTION?! The thought of me dying gives you an erection?!"
Hilarious character, hilarious actress, hilarious show. I don't really have much else to say. Jessica Walter is flawless.
Lady Mary Crawley (Downton Abbey)
"You should learn to forget what I say. I know I do."
I really like Mary. I love how very, very flawed she is -- often shallow and vein, and really bad at making good decisions about her love life. But she is also so aware of her flaws, and willing to fight back when she needs to. She's headstrong, but also legitimately strong. It's a fascinating combination.
Maurice Levy (The Wire)

Maurice Levy: You are feeding off the violence and the despair of the drug trade. You are stealing from those who themselves are stealing the lifeblood from our city. You are a parasite who leeches off the culture of drugs...
Omar Little: Just like you, man.
Maurice: Excuse me? What?
Omar Little: I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
God, Maurice is such a good villain -- and he is, very clearly, a villain. In a show full of cold blooded murderers, Maurice-- a defense attorney who protects high level drug dealers -- manages to be one of the most despicable characters in the whole damned show. He's so glib about what he does, happy to be totally corrupt, and of course, this being The Wire he gets away with it. I hate him, but man, do I love doing it.
Anyone want to play? Just ask!
In unrelated news, I really need someone to start shipping Hal/Tom with me, because I am having so many feelings about them this weekend.
