this rings somewhat true for me, & i agree that there's something strangely admirable about the guy eating a lobster alone; although, sometimes you look at a guy eating a lobster alone & just feel sorry for him. and mostly, i guess i would say, true or not, this quote is really disappointing.
speaking of emo, the lady who cuts my hair has kids in highschool & told me that "emo" is the new "gay." as in "that's gay," or now, "that's emo." i think it's kind of refreshing, this shirking of emo being cool, but the new phrase makes me feel a little old.

hmm, i'm not sure what you mean by disappointing. the lobster part of the quote is a bit silly out of context, sadly.
i mean, i guess it's good that kids aren't using gay in a negative way right now? i guess rainer maria broke up?

by disappointing, i just mean, if it is true, it kind of sucks. i mean, i think our culture really does value independence - i think most people view it as a strength - & if you can find happiness by yourself, i think that really is an asset, but, at the same time, i personally think the main value & purpose of life has a lot to do with our relationships with other people, and if you can never really understand each other, or if you can never really feel fulfilled together, it really crushes a hope for me that i already feared was naive ( ... )
