to bribe you into forgiving me i give you....
well well well...it would seem the last time i wrote here was a tiny while before my M&E work placement...and i appeared a little nervous about it. ill tell you now i worried for no reason what so ever!
i give you now - janes adventure into the land of the mysterious panel beater!!!
*looks at picture and pouts* i wanted one of those sexy outfits...anyway, yep i had to go to a smash repairs for work placement. why, i hear you ask...cause i was bright enough to choose metals and engineering as a subject, and to pass said subject every student has to do 70+ hours of work placement over 2 years. and yes, i am the only girl in my class, which could understandably lead to some...nerves...about the reception one might receive at the workplace. i was lucky though, i ended up at j & k smash repairs - a little private business involving a whole of 2 workers, jeff the spraypainter and owner, and matt the panel beater. i had so much fun there! they seemed the only people ive met who didnt seem...shocked about my chose of subject, and excepted me as i was and made me feel welcome. they didnt censure their language or behaviour because i was a minor and a female (which was something i was afraid they'd feel the need to do), not that it was shocking to begin with, and more importantly...they didnt make me make them coffee...which is good cause i really dont know how. i ended up doing the kinda dodgier jobs like washing and sanding down cars, but i enjoyed the manual (if brainless) work nonetheless. i also learnt a lot of random stuff that ill probably never use again, like mixing car paint and taping up cars for spraypainting. i dont think id make a career out of smash repairs but id definately do it as a part time job...
i think my next big event that month was...

V
ah...RENT...good times, good times indeed! this, my dear friends, was quite a show - not to mention the first time id seen it on stage. the first time i saw the movie i thought it was awesome, but i have to say seeing it live blows the movie right out of the water. it was an ameuter production performed on a little stage in the university of NSW, but was certainly none the less for that. all the casting was good, though some performances were outstanding in my opinion *cough*maureen*cough*, and the guy who played angel had the most impressive legs! just imagine - a pair of exceptionally muscled legs incased in hot pink stockings and white platform boots, under a skanky santa outfit. it was...amusing ;)
after my RENT outing i had the joy of a 17th birthday party for a very special person! twas a fun night indeed...in which i ended up drinking far to much of this -
though i didnt make a complete mess of myself...unlike other people. mwaha, nothing like having the photographic evidence of three of your close friend throwing up to show them in the morning! and i act so normal when drunk compared to some people. one of my weirder friends started apologising to everyone for not being tanned enough, and the proceded to try and rub other peoples tans onto her, whilst another male friend was attempting to molest a straight male he'd just met, who just sat there looking rather scared but telling him he didnt mind having an amourous gay man all over him. twas rather amusing though! until the next morning that is...i suppose i could blame my first decent hangover on the 3/4 of a bottle of bourbon i finished straight...bah, tastes just as bad either way!
the next event of note was a little festival held in sydney...
the blue moon festival basically celebrates gothic and alternative culture. i went with my father stepmother, jodie, and some of her friends who were performing there (they're in a band). whilst the weather was abismal and i had no money at all, i had a fun time admiring all the awesome clothes that came out to play. i also discovered im definately a coat, top hat and boot girl. the other clothes were nice but i only got tempted to slaughter people for these particular items. i also met some interesting friends of jodie's (such as the guy who painted my 4 eyed cat), aswell as some less than desirable ones - such a one lovely fellow who had to be kicked out due to his anti-semetic slander. over all the day was good, only to be topped of by a feast at the gormet viking consisting of a whole pig. im sure you can imagine the condition it ended up in...
my next event was "OMGSOAMAZINGLYAWESOME!!!" :D
the dresden dolls were awesome!!! no other word for it! i wasnt sure before hand how it would go cause i had the wonderful task of introducing different sets of friends (which is always fun), but pete settled right in so fast it was a little creepy. with that out of the way we proceded to act like a bunch of dicks on the train, first by sorting all the yellow m&ms out, then by counting all the left over m&ms as we put them back in the packet. we also made the interesting discovery that issac goes hypo when let near yoghurt, which was a first for us all... the actual concert started out a bit dodgey like with really bad management by the venue and tickets etc. it took forever for them to get everyone in and as such the show started atleast half an hour late. but that wasnt too much of a problem. after loosing several members of our group to the crowd at the front, the rest of us settled back to enjoy the creepy accordian guy (who just wouldnt go away), then the red paintings in support (who were really good) and finally the dresden dolls who were fucking amazing!!! i think what impressed me the most was they actually talked to the audience, and i think thats one of the most important part of a concert. the rest of the night went so fast, though back at bonbons we made another discovery along the lines of you cant fit 5 people in a double/queen bed...
4 days after the ddolls i had another concert of awesomeness -
PLACEBO! twas awesome again, though not quite as awesome as the last cause it was at a bigger venue (which means i couldnt see), and cause the didnt talk very much. it was quite weird at placebo, i saw these two (very tall) people who had been at every single concert of note that i have been to...infact, i believe they stood infront of me at every single concert ive been to...but meh, twas a fun night of much dancing and fool making. thought i did walk out of it with the ddolls stuck in my head...much to tanyas disgust...
through out these last 2 to extraordinary events i had one far less pleasurable...
EXAMS!!! horrible, evil things that they are...it was truely horrific. im sure i failed my english and chemistry exams, leaving the ones that are far less important to pass...though im not to sure about drama either... i hope to redeem myself with my photography mark, which i believe was top of the class. now if one can manage to forget that that subject doesnt get a UAI it seems awfully good. *head desk* all my other exams i dont want to kow about...
now that seems to be the end of my memorable events so i shall just use this space to update on some other items...
as i know some of you've already heard, my printer/scanner has for some unknowable reason become over run by ants -
oh yes, they've built quite a colony in there. however im sure youll be glad to know that with the introduction of some stratigically placed baits the ant population is on the fall. now instead of being surrounded by billions of live ants, we have billions of dead ones...
lastly i will leave you with some comments i should have left over the weeks.
