He might not be happy about it, but Owen is settling into the place, and an important part of that is taking the pranks of the Animus in stride. Although polling the locals is simply a part of his information gathering, he wouldn't be Owen if he let these things actually interfere with his work ( Read more... )

[[Breakfast with the Xanatoses, now there's an event in and of itself. Fox comes in with Summer at her heels. The little fox kit is bouncing around happily, occasionally jumping up to bat at Fox's tail. Fox has been decidedly transformed into her namesake, retaining as little humanity as possible. Fox is trying to take it in stride, too, and she smirks at Owen.]]

You got off easy.

Somewhere inside, Puck is tempted to point out that it's almost fetching, on her. Owen Burnett would never say such a thing to the wife of his employer, however. He doesn't even raise an eyebrow, although the dark wings stir and resettle softly, rustling. The wings and red tie make him vaguely reminiscent of a robin, but the feathers are darker than that. More like the wings of a crow or a raven, both clever birds with an ancient mythological history.

He pours the coffee, and puts down the saucers of milk and raw meat for Summer, because of course he's taken up the duty of serving every member of the family.

"I'm sure it will pass within a week."

It always does. Though it's kinda weird that we're this used to it already.

[[She takes a sip of her coffee, then spits it out, letting her tongue loll out in a way that might be pulling a face with a muzzle like hers.]]

I...think I'll have what she's having. [[She leans down to pet Summer, and steals a piece of her breakfast while she's at it.]] Looks like they pulled out all the stops on me.

That makes him pause, just for a second or two. Should he go put her milk in a silver dish? What silverware does one use for raw meat? Will she use any at all?

Owen bows formally, but he'll leave the coffee on the table for Mr. Xanatos. "Of course. I will go prepare a more suitable breakfast."

Only he could say that with such a perfectly straight expression. He heads back to the kitchen, all stiff-backed butlerly formality.

I unfortunately do not think they will care much.

Perhaps not. I would still like it to be said.

I suppose so. Thank you. My employers are here, which makes it easier to adjust.

Perhaps. It is difficult to gauge what feeling our actions may inspire, as there seem to be few lines of communication.
