A diary is perhaps the best use of it, though it serves well as a communications device also.

I didn't get to greet you when you arrived. Just got back from a bit of a hunting expedition. Seems the acid rain took out a great deal of the monsters, along with them the edible ones.

Mm, Fran and I were just finished recovering from our little stunt on the Bahumat and about to go collect the Strahl. Speaking of which, if Vaan has put a single scratch on her paintwork, he will know a hell like no other.

Considering you're not shocked that I'm alive and well, I take it you are either before my clever little performance, or after I deliver the note and small parcel tucked so neatly in my waistpouch.

How have you been in any case?

It's been a year. We took such good care of the Strahl, I promise. I think Vaan slept out there with it for days and days. After the first few times I caught him he would sneak out when I wasn't looking.
