LJ is where it is at, still

Facebook is so goddamn lame. I think it's because everyone is forced to post under their real names because it's nothing but sappy inspirational quotes and shit. I hate that. I much prefer LJ where everyone is whining and bitching and complaining like little babies. I feel more in my element here ( Read more... )

Yes.

Or rather, no, they haven't. Facebook for me is full of all the people who I know who haven't in fact been using the interwebs for the last 15 years and finally someone has dumbed it down and held their hand (And ruthlessly exploited every social hack under the sun) to get online.

It's damn unnerving.

Honestly, everyone and their parents are on facebook. If there are any aspects at about yourself that you enjoy discussing on the internet wouldn't talk about in front of your grandmother, then its a little too connected.

I've seen plenty of not real names on facebook. But indeed, it is kind of a bad idea. On the other hand, maybe it makes people less likely to trollolollooloolol

It's a suite of assorted applications bundled into a user-friendly package designed to bring computer-illiterate people to the internet. Sounds a lot like AOL to me.

I've got my profile locked down as tight as FB will allow, and I'm trying to maintain a policy of only friending people to whom I would reveal that sort of thing anyway. FB really hates that.

"Hey, this person? Fifteen of your friends know them! Are you sure you don't want to add?" Damnit, if I want to add someone, I'll look them up. I already know my Kevin Bacon number, kthx, no need to keep playing the game.

The Like button may be FB's only positive contribution to the world.

Older message boards were using "+1" long before that, though.
