Because SPN is now on Wednesday, there aren't that many ratings to report. So on Thursday I'll post just SPN's numbers, then on Saturday morning I will post the full week of CW shows so everyone can see how SPN did compared to everything else.
From
TVbytheNumbers I'm also now including the 18-49 demo rating in parentheses. This demo is the most coveted by advertisers and is more important than overall total viewers.
Supernatural - 2.00 million (0.8)
For easy reference/comparison:
We Need to Talk About Kevin - 1.85 million
What's Up, Tiger Mommy? - 2.51 million
Heartache - 2.13 million
Bitten - 1.86 million
Blood Brother - 1.78 million (pre-empted in Chicago)
Southern Comfort - 2.32 million
A Little Slice of Kevin - 2.32 million
Here are a few of my thoughts...
Gosh, this is the second episode in a row I've liked! Then again, I was watching it through rose-colored glasses as I fast-forwarded through Sam's flashbacks over and over and over. [rolls eyes] But I noticed through his facial expressions that for the first time it didn't seem all sunshine and rainbows. Someone tell me if I missed something vitally important.
So yeah, second ep in a row where Sam wasn't treating Dean like a dick! That all comes to an end next week, I'm positive, so I'll take what I can get.
This ep wasn't as zany as the interviews, etc made it out to be, since it was compared to Roger Rabbit. I was expecting more of the boys immersed in the actual cartoon world. When I first heard that it was only going to be Sam and Cas inside Fred's head I was disappointed that Dean wasn't going to take part in the cartoon stuff, but it was actually Dean's stuff that was funny! The BANG! sign coming out of the gun was priceless, as well as the freeze-frame jump/tackle.
Though it was awkward, I loved Cas's attempt at being a hunter. The third-wheel comment had me laughing as well as his attempt to sit in the front seat. Ha! He thought he was so cool he picked up on the dead guy having a bladder infection. [snort] And him interrogating the cat?? ROTFL! Oh, Cas, you're a lovable dork. I just loved his facial expressions throughout this whole episode. :-)
Speaking of Cas, there was a lot going on with him in this ep. Trying to be a hunter, another meeting with Naomi and talking about what he did when he was "God". We all know that Dean hates talking about his own feelings, let alone someone else's, so when he sat down across from Cas and said, "Talk to me", that was huge. As well as Cas admitting that he might kill himself. I was really moved by that scene.
Overall a good ep (Sam's flashbacks not withstanding) that balanced the funny with the serious.
