Two Days In

Jan 18, 2006 22:08

Well the first two days of work haven't been the best two days. It's not that things have gone bad or anything. It's just that I can't really do much without my badge and academy training. At least I found out that I will be attending the academy on April 3. And I also found out that the academy might last up to 6 months. But the good thing is ( Read more... )

So, how is the transition from living in San Diego to living in the desert?

I've thrown Sedona, Arizona and Santa Fe, New Mexico into the bag of "potential places to move to."

So far the transition hasn't been too bad. It's different in the sense that I am not living in a big 4-bedroom house with friends and family always around. The weather is colder here but not too extreme...yet. I ended up moving in outside of Vegas in Henderson so I won't be too close to the strip. The areas around there are pretty ghetto so I stuck with the suburbs. But I guess it's ok for now, we are getting closer to approaching freezing temps soon. And then of course the wonderfully hot as a mofo summers!

Santa Fe, really? What's there? I know Arizona is pretty nice from all the time I spent there a couple years ago. Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale and some parts of Phoenix are what I saw looked the best. Never been to Sedona though. Are you moving for work, or just because you want to get out of San Diego?

Nope, not for work......purely out of interest :)

Sedona and Santa Fe are pretty artsy places to live in. I love art towns.

I was able to visit both places a couple years back, and I just thought about living there. I'm pretty sure this is just a phase I am going through right now :)

well it makes sense. I got to a point where I thought about leaving San Diego so I started applying for jobs elsewhere. If you're going through that phase you might as well jump on it and go somewhere. I say why not? You can always move back if you don't end up liking it. Are you still going to state?

sorry for barging in, I didn't even read this post but I did see your post in the lasvegas community which I am banned from and wanted to offer some suggestions.

1. Mariana's Supermarket at Valley View & Sahara. Sounds strange but best food ever. They have all kinds of hot foods and combinations at their deli counter. The place gets packed for a reason. Very authentic, very cheap. Thank me later.

2. Tacos Mexico. Here are four locations:

Tacos Mexico
(702) 385-2332 601 Las Vegas Blvd N (at Saint Louis)

Tacos Mexico
(702) 384-8220 1205 E Charleston Blvd (at Maryland Pkwy)

Tacos Mexico
(702) 444-2288 1800 Las Vegas Blvd S (at Bonanza)

Tacos Mexico Inc
(702) 365-7673 3820 W Sahara Ave (at Valley View)

There's also one near Tropicana and Wynn.

3. I've heard Los Tacos at 1710 E. Charleston between Eastern and Maryland Parkway is good. Can't verify for sure since I've not tried it but might be worth it if it's near you.

Enjoy!

Ah a supermarket! I went to one like that in Phoenix once and you'r right, the food is great and cheap. If I go there I'll be sure to send a thank you your way. Damn you sure know your taco shops. I appreciate the help.
Oh and don't worry about posting here. You can read my posts if you want, there's nothing to hide in any of them. May I ask why you are banned from the Vegas community?

For boldly suggesting that members be allowed to cross promote communities that are VEGAS RELATED like mine: lasvegashidden.

I can understand that people don't want to read a bunch of messages promoting Live Journal communities that are unrelated but I thought there should be an exception for a community like mine or the ccsn community.

Oh well. C'est la vie.

love,
Poly

P.S. Of the three mentioned, Mariana's is indeed my favorito.
