Reasons So Far That Make Today a Great Day:
1) stayed up till 4 or 5 AM and slept in till noon
2) received my Freshman issue of the Cornell Daily Sun.
On the back page:

WHAT'S THAT PUMPKIN DOING THERE? THIS ROAD IS CLOSED AGAIN? HOW MUCH ARE THEY SPENDING ON THIS BUILDING, AND WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE A PRISON? TUITION IS RISING HOW MUCH? WHO'S MAKING CORNELL APPAREL? WHICH COACH WAS FIRED? HIRED? WHAT'S THIS ABOUT A BUILDING TAKEOVER THIRTY YEARS AGO? THAT GUY GOT ARRESTED AGAIN? WHO'S SPEAKING ON CAMPUS AND WHERE CAN I GET TICKETS? HOW CAN I DONATE MY EGGS? HE SOLD HIS IDEA TO STOUFFER'S? HOW MANY CRUSHING DEFEATS CAN THIS TEAM BEAR? HOW DO I BECOME A BIG FISH? WHAT'S THE STORY? READ THE SUN. FREE ON CAMPUS."

3) Becky and I ate lunch at the Subway downtown, and when we got there, they were just taking chocolate chip cookies out of the oven. So i bought one and ate it after my sandwich, and the chips were still all ooey gooey.
4) I bought TMBG's new cd The Spine. i haven't actually purchased a CD in so long. So why do i buy one now? They Might Be Giants is playing a FREE concert at Cornell on Aug. 28th right on campus on the Arts Quad. i am unbelievably excited at this point. i'm not scared much any more. i'm ready for school. well, ready mentally...physically...there's still more stuff to get. Tax free weekend this weekend = palm pilot, calculator, desk junk.
5) My mom actually did some laundry this weekend. now i have clean clothes and more shirts to wear! normally, i would just do my laundry myself, but last time i did, a shirt shrunk and now i have shirt-shrinking fear that keeps me away from doing my own laundry for the time being.
6) I thought of a name for my laptop that carries no bad connotations with it: Eli.
7) Driving home from downtown, there was a sunshower with some of the biggest, fattest raindrops i've seen in my entire life.
