Nobody's talking about McCain's pastor

Everyone's talking Obama, and nobody's talking about the actually inappropriate (horrendous, in my book) comments McCain practically endorsed, by Pastor John Hagee.

I was researching for my New Orleans poetry series, and ran across this. I had no idea that comments blaming Hurricane Katrina on the "sins of the people of New Orleans" were tied to ( Read more... )

YES. That's the other thing that annoyed me about the constant attention on the Reverend Wright story, nobody was really paying that much attention to McCain's pastor. (So surprised McCain would want that kind of person's endorsement, he always seems like such a nice guy.)

I don't talk very much about politics, but I do agree wholeheartedly with you. As sick as I am of this election season, I know it's important that the process be transparent this time -- and the public needs to know what it's letting itself in for, even something as basic as "Hagee thinks God smote New Orleans".

This kind of preaching is an insult to humanity. I was never taught that the creator "rewards the virtuous". And how can you teach your children that? Should we tell them to emulate anyone who's fortunate enough to not have their lives demolished by a natural disaster?

I can't believe either how lopsided the media attention is. People are seriously worrying about how Obama doesn't have a flag on his lapel. Grow up. A person can't even get any real life news on tv; there's no time spared for it. It's kind of a let-down when your first year of suffrage comes and you can't find the grown-ups that you thought you were going to be voting with.

Yep, I'm reading up on all your reports. Which, of course, I'm not really hearing anywhere else, because once again, the mass media's ignoring the city when it needs help.

I loved VDAY, and I'm so glad I could be a part of it. After all the events, we did head down to Bourbon Street for some good old fashioned debauchery and fun. :)

Thanks again! Much love!

Oh! And BTW I perform "Little Amsterdam" on Guitar and Harmonica. Love Tori but would hate to be her guitar player. She makes him stand at the end of the piano...watching her crawl all over it. Yikes. Saw her in Boulder '00.

Definitely yikes. I've never seen her perform, but I'd love to. That's awesome.
