Some thoughts about Leaving

Last night my friend John was talking to an acquaintance of his. During the conversation the acquaintance casually remarked that he, “Fucking hates New York.” Now John was born and raised in New York and has friends and family in the city, so obviously he was offended. Mat, I really enjoyed reading this post. I think it’s important to realize that leaving Portland doesn't have to be permanent. You could go back if you desired. I for one have finally fallen in love with Seattle. I want to someday move back to Portland though maybe after I finish school and work a few more years up here.

there's still something bittersweet about leaving the place that you feel at home though, i'm sure.. like i said in matts myspace post seattle's a gorgeous city.. it just takes a backseat to ptown for me.. cause roots and sense of belonging don't come out of nowhere. although i'm sure after a while one develops memories in whatever city they're in.

the only city i've been to that i "fucking hate" is L.A. and that's probably because i had some bad experiences there. and it's L.A. but even so it probably has redeeming qualities if it's your home.
