I just spent 2 months living with my old friend Susan.  We met way back in 4th grade.  And through a lot of turmoil we managed to stay friends over the years despite distance.  I moved out on less than friendly terms with Susan.  This made me think about why we were friends and how we managed to stay friends this long.  In 4th grade we were fast

So very true. I've learned over the years that a good friend & a good roommate can be two very different things - a good roommate is not nessecarily someone you get along with, it seems to have more to do with having mutually compatible neuroses than anything else.
