In all fairness, I don't really blame the people who didn't stay for strike since we were never officially called for strike. I had to ask several people before I found someone who could tell me what we were expected to do. There were several people who hadn't been in many shows before and who might not have known that singers/actors are generally expected to help with strike.

I don't mean to discount your reading of the situation, but the interdepartmental issues are not entirely the fault of the music department. My sister is enrolled in the theater department, and certain faculty members were very vocal about their disdain for her being in the marching band and having friends in the music department. One such faculty member confronted her about it at least three times and gave the impression that he would continue to be a jackass until she either denounced any love she had for music or changed majors. She's looking for a new major as we speak.
On the other hand, I've heard certain music professors make some petulant and even downright nasty comments about the theater department. I blame faculty and students on both sides for being too wrapped up in their own visions of glory to give any credence to other arts. Everyone involved needs to get their heads out of their asses and learn to work together.

Amen. It's just silly the way our departments get along.
I guess it's just perception on my part. Whenever I have a problem, I look within first rather than blame someone else, you know? The theatre people have never given me trouble. Ever. If there was a problem, it was my fault. Seriously, that isn't misplaced blame. That's just me knowing that I was being an idiot. heh.
