Thursday night, I watched The Descent, as suggested by Senor Jack. Now I've seen this once before, and generally films aren't as scary if you've seen them before - this one still is. For a bit of a change of pace you could try some of the old BBC adaptations of MR James ghost stories, like Whistle And I'll Come To You. I think they're all on Youtube and are creepy as hell.

Excellent idea! I can hopefully find them on http://www.thebox.bz/browse.php I'd forgotten all the gems the beeb throw at us every now and again. And some nights, a full length horror is a bit too much :)

The Signalman is another that shat me up when I was a kid, an adaptation of a Dickens story this time.

Have also heard good things about The Stone Tapes but not seen it. And there's always Ghostwatch. :)

Oh God! Event Horizon is the scariest film I've seen in my life, and it's not going on the list. I watched it by accident a few years ago thinking it was something else. A lovely little eco / sci film called Silent Running (I learned the next day) starring Bruce Dern and 3 little robots and their plight to save their sustainable mini forests. I was convinced it was called Event Horizon, and was ever so excited. Wrong! I kept my boys up to watch it n all *facedesk* they were only little :(

I shall definitely check out Triangle though. Sounds intriguing :)

Silent Running is the saddest film ever! It's probably more traumatic than Event Horizon.
