When one ties oneself into a string that is called “Relationship”.
One must not only have “Love”.
One must also have the feeling that goes beyond that.
And it’s called none other than “Companionship”.
…
“…Asking me more than what I can give. Also begging-pleading and crying to me to be someone I cannot be. It’s too much. It’s just too much. So if you can’t understand my heart that’s been trying so hard to be the man you oath me to be. Then I guess, even if I believe you are my everything. Let’s end this. Let’s break up, Umika.” Chinen Yuri’s words stung like a knife being stabbed hilt deep against the heart. Yet, Umika Kawashima couldn’t do anything but step back-distance herself and watch as her prince-her angel in disguise, walk away from her life-.
…because truly, she understands
She deeply understands the reason why her Yuri broke up with her. The reason is all her after all. She’s all to blame, because she’s been too demanding-too selfish and too possessive of everything that is Chinen Yuri. She wanted everything of him. She loves him that much to the point that she’s been strangling him until-snap. He couldn’t breathe. Not anymore.
“Yuri, stop that.”
“Yuri, wear this not that.”
“Yuri, where are you going?”
“Yuri, why are you late?”
“…Yuri, you have no time for me.”
“Umika, I’m sorry…”
“Yuri-Yuri-Yuri-“
“Yuri, I’m sorry.” She tried to choke back a sob and hide the pain. However, she couldn’t, because the moment her first intake of breath caught up in her throat, and as the painful sting of her heart began to reprimand her every mistake, tears. Small, diamond-like droplet of tears slowly cascaded down her charcoal-colored eyes, until realization hit her just too fast-so very, very fast.
She’s been dumb.
Umika Kawashima is an idiot. She took advantage of that beautiful kindness. She took everything for granted. She took, what more, his heart-his love for her for granted. “…Y-Yuri…” She wanted to shout, call him back…however… she’s afraid. Afraid that if she chase after that small frame-that small back… he might push her away and tell her off. He might tell her the words, she never wants to hear, most especially, not from him-I hate you.
“No! No-No-NOOOO-“she screamed so loud and so clear yet… her sentence. It was stopped mid-way by a familiar scent-a familiar voice and a very familiar warmth, holding her close and keeping her safe. “It’s only a nightmare, Umika. It’s only a nightmare.” Chinen Yuri cooed as his slightly big hands, gently strokes the wet tresses of Umika’s hair, calming her down. “…It’s only a nightmare. Nothing but a bad dream.” He whispered just as soft as he kisses her forehead then the tip of her slightly crinkled, sniffling nose. “…Cute.” He mumbled ever so innocently, before he pulled her up from the bed and let her sit on his lap, easing her fears.
“Yu-Yuri?” Umika snuggled closer to the warmth of her boyfriend’s chest, while tears yet again started to brim down her beautiful eyes. “Yes?” he gave her a cute smile, before he took hold of her small hands and twine them together with his. And the moment he’s done that, her breath just got caught up within her throat, while her heart. It just beats uncontrollably inside her chest-doki, doki-as heat rise up more into her now burning cheeks.
She’s breathtakingly speechless.
Chinen Yuri has done it again. He, yet again, made her want to be selfish of him forever. “…Yuri.” She mouthed and tried to speak what she wants to confirm, mostly of her dream, her realization and her mistakes. But somehow right now, when she looks at him-her Chinen Yuri. She just couldn’t do a thing. She melts into a puddle. She remains as silent as the wind, because during the littlest moments when his and her eyes meet. He will just look at her with those sparkling, charcoal-colored eyes and then give her that knowing smile, and she doesn’t know why.
Well, not until... she heard his sudden reply.
“...I’ve heard your every word.” He began. “…I’ve seen how you crinkled those eyebrows of yours and let out whimpers of I’m sorry for being selfish of me-for loving me completely…” a smile, “…and it’s alright you know. What you do, how you tie me and close me into a cage. It’s alright. Never have I felt any regret.” He then tilted her chin and gave her a kiss-not passionate, but an innocent and everlasting one, just like their love. “…because, the moment I said Umika Kawashima, I love you. I have already given you my world and have already caged myself inside your heart without any regrets of turning back.”
And hearing those lines from none other than Chinen Yuri, Umika never felt more thankful enough for receiving such fallen grace from above.
“Thank you, Yuri. Thank you so much…”
…
Love falters, but Companionship. It never does.
