... on the phone with Bell Canada, trying to get them to agree that the house we are moving to actually exists, and that we can have a phone line there...

So far I've been transferred once, and disconnected once... more to come, I'm sure...

I hate Bell. The only good thing about them is the installers. Their entire system for getting the installers to do their thing is what's borked beyond belief. I can't wait for Teachers to break them the hell up and sell them off at fire sale rates.

Did you have to go with Bell?

For a landline phone, yes. We don't have (or want) cell phones, or cable. The choices for internet are radio wireless or satellite - neither make a reliable enough (low latency) internet connection for VOIP to be an option.
