Of Pretty Dresses...

Why don't they make pretty dresses for girl's my size? I have spent the last two weeks trying to find a dress for my Grandfather's wedding to my Great Aunt, in which I am the only bride's maid/maid of honor. My Aunt doesn't want something extremely formal. So we've been looking for a dress that goes to my knees... aka a cocktail dress. And in the ( Read more... )

I feel your pain. I have that trouble too.

Have you tried shopping Torrid yet? They have some really pretty dresses and they are for bigger gals! I can't wear everything there, but their dresses and corsets are great because I'm so busty. :)

I'm beginning freak out mode because I'm standing in a wedding for the first time in June and I'm going next week to get measured for the dress...and I'm just terrified that I'm gonna look so fat in this pretty taffeta dress. So be glad you at least get to pick something that looks good on YOU instead of having to wear the same thing as a bunch of other gals!

Good luck, tho!!! I hope you find something really pretty!! *hugs*

Torrid was one of the first places we looked. Everything was either too low cut, too funky - which would be fine if I weren't standing in a wedding - or black.

I'm certain you'll look beautiful, because you ARE beautiful! So there's no way you could look anything but!

Awww you're so sweet!!! *hugs*

Man I guess Torrid is out of the really pretty stuff I saw before Christmas. I haven't been there since right after Christmas when I went back (in the Boxing Day insanity) to get a corset I had my eye on.

I wish I knew of other stores...crafting stuff I can tell you where to find just about anything you can imagine but dresses I don't know so well. But I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!

Thanks so much Sweetheart. And I mean it. You're beautiful both inside and out. Plus... you're spunky! And that makes you way more fun than the model size generic girls who might as well all have been made in the same mold.

I think fashion in general is just kinda frumpy nowdays. :/ It's not just your size, but all sizes and styles are just kinda bleh. There's an late 70's early 80's influence right now, so everything looks old or funky.

Maybe you could get a pretty simple dress, then add your own flair? Like some pretty trims or appliques? Or replace simple buttons with prettier ones?

Also if you still have some time, it's going to be prom season real soon, so many more dresses are coming out! ;3

That's actually a really great idea! I love taking something simple and jazzing it up ^^ And I seriously gagged when I saw that 80's styles where coming back. Some of them were kind of fun... must most of them were mistakes best not repeated.

Mom and I are on our way to David's Bridal as I speak. So I'm hopeful!

did you try Macy's? I know it's expensive.. but when you find things on sale they're about the same price as torrid and stuff
