CHAPTER 5 - "Kiss in Hidden Heart"

It’s been a month since YunHo’s tutoring first started. What were difficult for YunHo weren’t the lessons anymore; it was the constant torture of seeing JaeJoong. Why did he have to like his tutor? Why couldn’t he loathe his tutor like other students?

YunHo was staring at his lunch, imagining what JaeJoong could be doing at that moment. Was the 21-year old also eating lunch? Was he in a class? Was he with his…boyfriend?

“Hey, YunHo-hyung? YunHo-hyung!”

YunHo jumped from the sudden exclamation and his juice nearly spilled.

“Don’t surprise me like that!”

“Hehe, sorry, hyung,” DongHae apologized. “You’ve been dazed since 2 weeks ago. Are you sure you’re okay?”

“Yeah…I’m fine…”

DongHae narrowed his eyes, pouted his lips and looked at his best friend more closely.

“Hyung, I can see it in your face. You’re thinking more than usual.”

DongHae was punched on the arm.

“What’s that supposed to mean?!”

“Are you PMS-ing today, hyung? You’ve gotten a lot angrier since your tutoring.”

“…” YunHo was then reminded more about JaeJoong. Why did everything have to remind him about JaeJoong? Even the food he was eating, noodles and kimchi, reminded him of JaeJoong. YunHo was getting frustrated to say the least.

Inside the dorm building, in one of the rooms, a certain college student by the name of Shim ChangMin was preparing something special for his boyfriend of two weeks.

ChangMin still couldn’t believe that he finally had his first love as his boyfriend. It was the best thing that ever happened to him. Now, he had another dream he wanted to fulfill-his dream of kissing JaeJoong…and maybe more.

ChangMin had no classes that day so he had the time to prepare. JaeJoong was going to come home after his tutoring session with his student, whom ChangMin didn’t like one bit.

The mere thought of the 18-year old was enough to anger the 20-year old college student. It was annoying.

YunHo alone in his bedroom with ChangMin’s boyfriend, it wasn’t pleasing to the ears for ChangMin to hear. Maybe during his special dinner, he’ll talk to JaeJoong about finding a student more suitable-a student who doesn’t drink at bars and lack in academics.

There was a knock on the door.

“JaeJoong-hyung?”

ChangMin went to the door and his smile turned upside-down when it was JunSu and YooChun, arms linked.

“Hi, ChangMin-ah!” JunSu greeted.

ChangMin just raised his eyebrow and left the door open for the two to enter.

“Hey! Why are you being so cold to us?” YooChun asked.

“I thought you were my boyfriend,” ChangMin answered without much thought.

“But we’re your best friends! Don’t we get a greeting?”

ChangMin saluted them and continued preparing everything for his special dinner for JaeJoong. YooSu couple looked around and saw the place was cleaner than when JunSu was roommates with ChangMin. There were hearts dangling from the ceiling, candles around the room and food being cooked.

“What’s the occasion?” JunSu asked.

“Today is exactly 2 weeks since JaeJoong-hyung and I’ve become official.”

“Shouldn’t you be celebrating your 1st month anniversary or 100th day anniversary? There’s not much to celebrate if it’s only been 2 weeks,” YooChun stated.

“You don’t understand anything. I’ve loved JaeJoong-hyung since I first met him, so, every second with him is important to me,” ChangMin said with a small smile which made him glow.

“You’re really in love, aren’t you, ChangMin-ah?”

ChangMin nodded; continuing with his chopping of vegetables.

JunSu looked at YooChun with lovey-dovey eyes and asked him, “How come you never cooked for me?” JunSu even pouted.

“I’ve never tried. Plus, I don’t want to hurt you with my cooking.”

“Aww~ Do you want me to teach you?”

“Sure. Will you wear an apron?”

“I can wear only an apron for you, babe.”

The couple shared a wet, passionate kiss and ChangMin almost gagged.

JaeJoong was in his class, writing down the last few words in his English lesson. As the professor was about to wrap up, JaeJoong’s phone vibrated. JaeJoong flipped open his phone and he received 2 text messages.

The first one was from ChangMin-

[ID]: ChangMin~

[TIME]: 03:24pm

[MESSAGE]:

Hyung! I can’t wait to see you when you get home! Have fun tutoring. I have a surprise for you later. Don’t forget ^o^

‘A surprise?’ JaeJoong asked in his mind.

“That’s the end of the lesson. Class dismissed,” the professor declared.

JaeJoong got his stuff packed and he was ready for his tutoring session with YunHo that afternoon. As he walked out of the classroom, he checked the second message.

[ID]: Jung YunHo

[TIME]: 03:19pm

[MESSAGE]:

JaeJoong-hyung, where are you?! I’m pissed. I’ve been waiting for 30 minutes!! GET HERE NOW!!! D:<

JaeJoong heaved a sigh, “Once a brat; always a brat.”

JaeJoong replied-

[ID]: Kim JaeJoong

[TIME]: 03:26pm

[MESSAGE]:
I’m on my way.

JaeJoong took the bus and when he got down at his stop, there was a convenience store right at the bus passenger waiting area. He thought that buying a snack wouldn’t waste much time.

He got chocolate covered strawberries, his all-time favorite sweet. After he paid for it, he ran to YunHo’s house. When he arrived, he was greeted by an angry YunHo.

“Hey, YunHo,” JaeJoong greeted.

“You’re late!” YunHo exclaimed with his arms crossed. His foot was tapping as well, signifying his annoyance.

“I’m sorry. My class ended later than yours.”

“Make sure it doesn’t happen again!”

“Okay. Why are you so mad?”

“Huh? J-Just because! I don’t want you to be late!”

JaeJoong found it strange that YunHo was mad about him being late. Why would he get mad? It wasn’t as if it happened every tutoring session. It wasn’t a big deal.

JaeJoong stepped inside the house and prepared his lesson plan for YunHo. The new lesson he had for math was conic sections-parabola. He related it to basketball. Also, he was going to use it for projectile in Physics.

For YunHo, time passed too quickly. 2 hours of tutoring were short for YunHo. He had fun having basketball as an example in the lessons.

“So, using this figure, you’re standing 5 feet from the post and there's a parabola here…“ JaeJoong explained as he drew on the whiteboard.

In a few minutes, YunHo was able to solve for the time the ball went in the basket.

“You’re doing really well, YunHo,” JaeJoong complimented.

“Thanks. It’s all because of you, JaeJoong-hyung.”

JaeJoong smiled sincerely, “It’s no problem. Well, since we finished everything, want to have a snack before I leave?”

“Sure…but…my mom forgot to go grocery shopping. I don’t think there’s anything here…”

“It’s alright. I have something.”

JaeJoong opened his bag and brought out the pack of chocolate covered strawberries, a snack YunHo thought was long gone.

YunHo gawked and pointed at the pack, “A-Are those ch-chocolate covered strawberries?!”

“Yeah. I passed by the convenience store on the way here.”

“You like eating those?”

“Of course! It’s my favorite snack. I thought they removed this from the market but it’s a good thing I saw some at the store. Why? Do you like them?”

“Yeah! I’ve loved them since I was a kid!”

“Really? Me, too!”

YunHo was stunned that he found something in common between himself and his tutor. JaeJoong gave him a strawberry and JaeJoong raised his.

“Cheers?”

YunHo smiled and tapped his strawberry on JaeJoong’s before taking a bite. The sweet sugary chocolate melted in his mouth and a mixed-sour strawberry balanced out the flavors. Both boys moaned in its sensational sweetness.

YunHo eyed JaeJoong’s lips which had some chocolate on them. YunHo tapped JaeJoong on the shoulder to tell him.

“JaeJoong-hyung…uhm…pfft…you have some…chocolate here,” YunHo mirrored on his lips.

JaeJoong mimicked YunHo’s hand but wasn’t getting the chocolate. YunHo rolled his eyes.

“Nevermind. I’ll get it.”

YunHo leaned closer and wiped the chocolate off of JaeJoong’s lip. YunHo froze all of a sudden. He was only an inch or two from JaeJoong’s face that YunHo could see JaeJoong’s pores and beauty mark under his left eye. JaeJoong, too, looked at YunHo’s face.

There was a spark. It couldn’t be explained but-something electrified both of them. YunHo initiated and kissed JaeJoong. What was weird was-JaeJoong didn’t pull away. They both felt the kiss with much attraction.

JaeJoong placed his hand on YunHo’s cheek; YunHo’s hand was behind JaeJoong’s neck, deepening their lip-lock. When there was tongue, JaeJoong snapped back to reality. JaeJoong has a boyfriend!

JaeJoong pushed YunHo and leaned back. He wiped his mouth with his sleeve and stared with blank eyes. Why did he allow it to happen? He betrayed ChangMin.

“I-I have to go…er…I-I’ll see you on Tuesday!”

JaeJoong grabbed his bag, ran out the door and fled the scene of the crime. As he ran, his heart was racing. No-not because of the running but because of what had just occurred. He kissed his student for crying out loud!

Before he knew it, he was back at the dorm building on his way to the room. He fished for his keys. Once he got them, he slid them inside the key hole and turned the knob. When the door opened, the place was dim but with candles all around.

“What-ChangMin-ah? Are you in here?”

JaeJoong closed the door behind him and looked around. It was very dark and there was a path of candles leading its way to the living room. He followed it and at the end of the path was a figure standing with a rose.

“ChangMin?”

The lights turned on and it was indeed ChangMin. He was wearing a polo shirt paired with clean jeans.

“What’s all of this?” JaeJoong questioned.

“It’s to celebrate 2 weeks of being together, Hyung.”

“Eh? 2 weeks? You’re celebrating for that reason?”

ChangMin took a step forward and gave JaeJoong the rose.

“Don’t you think we should celebrate everyday? It’s like a dream that we’re together…”

JaeJoong knew ChangMin was speaking with his heart and it pained JaeJoong that he couldn’t give his whole heart like him-not yet anyways. JaeJoong’s head was down. ChangMin lifted JaeJoong’s chin with his index finger and thumb.

“Hyung…”

JaeJoong locked eyes with ChangMin and their lips met. It was different. Why did his kiss with YunHo seem…to draw JaeJoong more than ChangMin's?

ChangMin noticed that JaeJoong’s lips weren’t moving. He ceased so he could ask, “Is there something wrong, Hyung?”

“Uh…I-It’s nothing…I-I’m just hungry. Do you have food?”

“Yeah. I was able to make dinner without having to use the stove in the kitchen down the hall.”

“Congratulations! I’ve taught you well.”

“Yes, you have.”

ChangMin pecked JaeJoong on the cheek. Not even that simple kiss made JaeJoong feel anything.

What was happening? Is JaeJoong’s heart…finding more than what’s already there?
