It's important to note that the Audiofic Archive requires an mp3 version of every podfic archived there for accessibility's sake. So if you output as m4a or whatever else, be sure to post an mp3 version as well.

*nods* I know I, personally, listen to mp3s. Which is why I made a point of saying "MP3 is the most common and universal format for audio, if you're only going to put out one file format make it an mp3. However many podfic listeners enjoy having the option to download podfics as a podbook. " :)

Many people just starting out, and a few who've been at this for a while, don't realize having an mp3 version is an accessibility issue or that the archivers require one.

When archiving is ongoing, the archivers sometimes have to convert other formats to mp3 themselves. Obviously it's much easier for them if the podficcer provides a copy for them.

I remember when, I think it was Written By the Victors first came out only an m4b version was posted and I got into a very long back and forth conversation with the person who made the post (I don't remember who anymore) asking for an mp3 version and explaining why m4bs don't work for everyone. So I totally get what you mean. :)

Yay! Glad it was useful. I really wanted to present something beyond just technical stuff, to help people through all the other hoops that do (or maybe should do, but many often don't).

i am the most amateur of podficcers, so this is really useful. for one thing, i never knew about the noise removal in audacity. and it has handy links for podbooking and attaching covers right here.
