From Wyoming, with commentary...
You Know You're From Wyoming When...
"Vacation" means going to Cheyenne for the weekend. Yep...but sometimes it means going to Casper or other places that have much fewer people.
You have ever uttered the term " Greenie!" Uh-huh. If the vehicles at all the "tourist" spots sprouted green license plates come spring wherever you were, you probably would, too!
It's "BIG NEWS" if a non-Wyoming friend saw a celebrity once. But of course. And it's even BIGGER news if a Wyoming friend saw one--like when they filmed Starship Troopers at Hell's Half-acre.
Down south to you means Colorado. Yeah, but as I started out in KS and MO, south is a whole lot more than that to me.
All the festivals across the state are named after terrain features or Indian tribes. ...Frontier Days...Laramie Peak Bluegrass Festival...etc
You know what a Jackalope is. State animal, of course. ;)
You know that Devils Tower is in Wyoming and that it is not where the devil lives. And if you've never been there, it's incredibly awesome to visit--love the myth that goes with it.
You know that Yellowstone is in Wyoming, not Montana. Where else would it be? ;)
You know that Wyoming is in the United States, not Canada. (Or a suburb of Denver) ...how many times have I had to tell people "It's that other square state in the middle!"??
You drink pop; not soda.Nah...I drink soda...but sun-tea is better!
You never knew there was a taxi service in your town. Am pretty sure there wasn't one--at least they didn't look like taxis if there was. What can you say when you hail from a town of 5000 or fewer people?
You only paid $5.00 to cut your own Douglas Fir Christmas tree. Paid, schmaid. It's good to know people who have property with trees growing on it (granted, that can be a rarity--the trees, that is).
You pawned a snow blower instead of a set of golf clubs. WE had to scoop it with SHOVELS...pansy-ass people with snow blowers! ;)
The elevation is five times higher than the population on the city welcome sign. Duh.
There are more oil pumping units than trees. Just about.
Antelope outnumber the sheep. Yeah, though the bighorns hold their own pretty well.
Wide open spaces mean 120 miles to the next rest stop. ...and you count your distance in how long it takes to get there--hrs instead of mi.
You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Wyoming.Have done so--and they enjoyed them, too.
