RP LOG: [Yarik and Atemu then Mako and Atemu]

May 12, 2005 21:49

Summary: Before, during and after the "date."

Yarik peeked into Atemu and Yugi's shared room. "Atemu, whatcha doing...and what do you want for dinner? I'm cooking tonight."

Atemu looked over his shoulder as he finished drying off his torso from his shower. "Yarik? Oh, uhm... I'm getting ready to go out. I'm afraid I'll have to skip dinner tonight," he said with a smile.

"Out? With Yugi?" he asked, coming into the room, sitting on the bed. He bounced a bit, gazing up at his cousin through his bangs. "Where ya going? Can I come?"

"I'm going out to dinner with this guy from school," Atemu said softly. He walked over to his closet and started to shift through his clothing. "It probably isn't a good idea for you to go with me, but maybe we can do something tomorrow night, if you'd like. I'll miss not having your food tonight though."

"'Someone from school?'" Yarik repeated. "Uh...who?"

"A guy named Mako," Atemu said, picking out a tight black shirt. "I ran into him at school and it sort of just happened." He put on his shirt then walked over to the mirror.

Yarik stared at Atemu. "You're going out with...with Mako?" he asked, a little astonished. "...why would you do something like that?! He makes me look...sane!"

Atemu looked over his shoulder and smiled to Yarik. "Ya-chan, you ARE sane. As for why? Well, he has some of my art books and he said he'd give them back to me afterwards," he explained with a shrug. "I suppose going out isn't so bad, considering Yuugi's been out constantly and I'm sort of just confusing to you."

Yarik pouted. "No you're not. Besides...isn't this, like...what about Yugi?" he asked, confused. "Isn't this...wrong?" He crossed his arms, looking away. "Why would you wanna go out with Mako anyway?" he muttered, resmebling a spoiled child.

Atemu sighed after he was done fixing his hair and leaned against a dresser. "Yuugi and I have sort of split at the moment. I mean, I think we're still dating, just he gave me room to explore my feelings with..." Atemu trailed off. "Well, he's hasn't been around lately either. Besides, I told you, I have to go out with him tonight so I can get my art books back."

"I'll buy you new art books," Yarik said in a faint and desperate tone. "D-don't, Atemu..." He swallowed uneasily. How was this happening? Atemu was always there and now...now Atemu was leaving. And...and... Yarik jumped to his feet, running from the room. He didn't want Atemu to see him cry.

Atemu was confused and followed Yarik. "Ya-chan, they're library books, or I would have bought new ones. It's just ONE date. What's so wrong with him? Is he mean?" he asked walking into Yarik's room.

"No, you are! You never...you never told me that you..." Yarik clentched his fists, refusing Atemu's gaze. "You never said anything about you and Yugi splitting up."

A knock was heard on the door, causing Yarik to cringe. "I don't want you to be late for your date."

Atemu sighed softly. "Does it matter if Yuugi and I are together? You made your choice and I told you I had made mine," Atemu said with a soft smile. "I still love you, Ya-chan, and if you want to talk more tonight, I'll see you." With that, Atemu left to answer the door. Yarik's reaction confused him greatly, but he had promised to be ready by 6. He opened up the door and smiled softly. "Hello."

Mako smiled, giving Atemu a fake salute. "Brought you your books, just like I said I might." He laughed, handing them over to Atemu.

"Thank you," Atemu smiled, accepting the books and leaving them on the table near the door. "And I'm ready at 6 like I said I would be," he said taking his jacket from the closet. "Are we ready?"

"Why, I'd say we are," he said cheerfully, wrapping his arm around Atemu's shoulders and giving him a brief squeeze. "Come on, hope you don't mind if we walk...makes no sense to have a car in this town anymore...so crowded."

"I don't even have a car and no, i don't mind. I walk everywhere. I get lost a lot but, I walk," Atemu said, then paused, realizing he was probably going on about something that Mako could care less about. "So how far away is this place?"

"Not far...don't worry, I'll make sure we don't pass Go or collect two hundred dollars," he joked. He gazed at Atemu. "So you aren't Japanese, are you?" he asked, a little confused.

Atemu chuckled softly. "Collecting 200 dollars doesn't sound half bad." He paused and smiled to Mako. "No, I'm Egyptian actually. Although, my cousin is pretty much Japanese."

"Yugi Motou, right?" Mako asked, brushing his hair out of his eyes. "Yeah, I'm only half. I think it's why I tan so easily." He held his arm out next to Atemu's. "I think I'm as dark as you..."

"You know Yuugi?" Atemu asked as he looked down to Mako's arm. "Almost, but if I got more sun, like this summer, I bet I'll be much darker than you," he said with a grin.

"Seen him around, more. Hard to ignore such wild hair. A common gene I see you two share," he said, gently ruffling his hand through Atemu's hair.

Atemu made a funny face to Mako. "I just did that," he replied sticking his tongue out. "So if you're only half Japanese, what's the other half?"

"Oh wouldn't you like to know, nosey one?" He smiled mysteriously, eyebrow raised. "Maybe if we have fun tonight I'll tell you." He took Atemu's hand in his and brought it to his lips. "We have arrived," he said, motioning to the sushi resturaunt they stood outside of.

Atemu blinked and watched Mako as he held his hand. He was a bit confused on what Mako meant by his first statement, but relaxed when he saw the Sushi resturaunt. "Ohhhh... I love sushi."

"I love you-- I mean...me too!" Mako grinned, pretending he hadn't..."messed up." He led him inside, pulling him to a table. "That's what I'm going to be after I get out of school. I mean...a chef. A sushi chef, not a sushi." He laughed, abiet nervously.

"Wow, that would be really cool. So are you going to go to school for that then? Or do you just get a job?" Atemu asked curiously as he walked into the restaurant.

"I'm going to try to get an apprienticship. Can't do too much until I get out of high school, though. No working rule and all..." Once the waitress had sat them, Mako began looking over the menu. "What about you? What do you think you'll do out of high school?"

"That's a good question. Ideally, I'd like to do something with art. But, I'm not exactly sure if I'm good enough to do anything with that. So, other than that, I couldn't tell you," Atemu answered, looking over his own menu. "My family always wanted me to take over the family business, and I have a lot of business training, however I find it dull and boring."

"So open a gallery," Mako offered helpfully. "That way...you have the business training and such...and you'd get a chance if you are good enough to display and sell your art."

Atemu thought a moment. "That's not too bad of an idea. I might have to think about that one," he said with a smile. He put down his menu and looked over to Mako. "So tell me something. Why were you so adament about going out with me?"

"I'm adament about everything I do!" Mako proclaimed proudly. "Life's no fun if you aren't serious about anything!" Nevermind to him that was a serious oxymoron.

"That's an interesting point of view," Atemu answered. He leaned against the table a bit. "Do you know Yarik?"

"Do you?" Mako asked, looking away nervously.

"Yes," Atemu answered simply, providing no more information. "How do you know him?"

"He hates me...sometimes. Sometimes...he likes me. It's...weird." Mako shrugged. "I mean this in the best way possible...but I'm not sure if he's alright upstairs."

Atemu furrowed his brow. "He's just a unique soul." Atemu shifted a little uncomfortably and decided it was best to change the flow of the conversation a bit. "So, tell me a little more about yourself."

"Well...like what? I like the ocean, sunsets, and beaches. Uh...I live alone and I dream of someday owning my own boat." He looked up at the ceiling, as if checking his answers. "Yup...that's me."

"So you're an ocean man, huh? I've never been to the ocean. I mean I flew over parts of it, but never been actually to it. I have been to the Nile," Atemu said with a smile. "Alright, so what are some things you enjoy doing then?"

"Then that's where we're going on our next date," Mako insisted. "Anyone who hasn't been to a beach is a sad soul." He pushed his bangs out of his face, laughing nervously. "I like to fish, really..."

Atemu blushed a little. "You're very sure that we'll be going out again." He let out a chuckle, although he was mostly teasing. "You fish? I'd say that's interesting. I wouldn't even know where to start with that."

"You're having fun already, aren't you? And I could always steal something else of yours and use it as collateral." He smiled knowingly. "As for fishing...it doesn't take much, thought upper body strength helps. It's actually quite relaxing."

Atemu laughed softly. "You're very unusual and quite amusing." He smiled and leaned back when the waitress came for their order. He gave his order and asked for tea with the meal and watched as Mako did the same.

Mako asked for black tea instead, nervously fliddling with his napkin. "Is that good?" he asked once she had left.

"It's certainly not bad. I'll let you know afterwards how it is," Atemu said, once again grinning. "So what about your family?"

Mako shrugged, his smile fading. "Ah, well...my mom left me with my dad when I was younger. I grew up in parts of the Carribean. My father was a fisherman." He tapped his fingers nervously. "Well, the sea claimed him and I went to live with a few realitives further up Japan near Kyoto. But I moved out on my own a few years back because I wanted to be near Domino Harbor..."

"I'm sorry to hear about your father," Atemu said, feeling guilty for bringing it up. "But it's nice that you're here. Do you like it here? Or did you like the Carribean better?"

Mako shrugged. "That's why I want a boat. So I can go wherever I want...the thing about Japan is...everything is so cramped. So...that's why I'd like to leave...thought not forever. I guess I've avoided getting close to people so I could do that..."

"I see," Atemu replied, trying to figure Mako out. He seemed a bit more complex than he had initially thought. "So you won't allow yourself to get close to people?"

"Well...it's not like I didn't have to try too hard. No one wants to be around the big, scary, half-Japanese fish freak," he chuckled. "But I've never put too much of an effort either way. What about you? How'd you end up in Japan?"

"I don't think you're scary. A bit forward, but not scary," Atemu said before leaning forward a little to play with his water the waitress had left behind. "It's a bit of a complicated story, but in a nutshell, my family was fighting over something and sent me here. However, when they came to get me back, I decided that I wanted to come back. Everyone that I care about is here."

"That's sad. But I guess happy too. Because if you were that miserable there then I'm glad you found something better here..." Mako nodded. He stretched, his back cracking in the process. "So what do you do for fun?"

"I love to draw. So I tend to do a lot of that. I also do a lot of shopping and just hanging out with friends. I'm pretty happy doing anything as long as I'm with people that make me happy," Atemu said with a big grin. "I can usually find something good in anything."

"What if I was to spill water on you? Where's the good in that?" he asked, teasing, bringing his glass to his lips.

Atemu chuckled softly and then decided to be a little more daring. "I'd say, that my shirt might stick tighter to me and I'd look that much better."

Mako smirked. "You are good at that..." He laughed easily. "So you like me yet, Atemu, or is this just a lost cause?" He winked.

Atemu leaned back with a smirk. "I'm not quite sure. If you mean like as in could we hang out, then yes, I like you well enough. If you mean something a bit more then I'd like to keep that to myself, for now."

Mako folded his hands together, resting his chin on them as he smiled at Atemu. "Well I'll be quite honest. I find you incredibling charming and I'd like to see more of you more often. Take that as you like."

Atemu raised an eyebrow. "You are a bit naughty, aren't you? And tell me, how do you want me to take that?"

"Well, it's summer. I'm going to take you to the coast and we're going to go swimming. You can't expect to go dressed like that," he teased. "Why, Atemu, was there another way you took it?"

Atemu rolled his eyes playfully. "And here I thought you just wanted to go out on more dates with me." He smiled and laughed, leaning back in his chair and stretching his body out.

"Oh, but it will be a date. See, we'll have to set a date so we know neither have plans already. See? A date?" He grinned.

"Yes, I do understand that concept," Atemu answered with a wink. "And honestly, I don't know how to swim, so I highly doubt you'll get me in the water, so I think what I'm wearing is just fine," he said with a bit of tease in his voice.

"Another thing I'll have to change, Atemu. Besides, if you get scared, you can just hold onto me. I float surprisingly well," he laughed.

Atemu gave a short chuckle. "Something tells me, that's exactly what you're hoping for."

"What? I'm not a bad guy, Atemu." He propped his chin up with his hand. "I'm quite a gentleman."

Atemu leaned against the table, even more. "That's wonderful to hear. Tell me about these gentleman like charms you might have."

"I'm buying you dinner, aren't I?" he winked. "I helped you with your books. I think I'm batting a thousand."

Atemu let out a deep laugh. "Well, you're definately not doing bad, but you're not really too good at the playful talk," Atemu said with a wink. "It's ok, I don't judge people by their talk anyhow. However, I have to admit, I am really new to the whole going out on a date thing, so I'm not really sure what I should be doing or not be doing."

Mako laughed richly. "Well, I'm new, too. So how about we agree to be more honest with each other...or should I kiss you right now, Atemu?" Before he got an answer, their food arrived. "Damn," he said, laughing.

Atemu laughed nervously, sitting back to accept his food. He wasn't quite sure how to reply to Mako and let part of the conversation slip. "Have you not been completely honest?" he asked curiously taking a bit of his sushi, obviously enjoy the food he had just eaten.

"I think I left out about the part that I love your eyes," he smiled. "Little liar me," he teased.

Atemu blushed deeply. "Thank you," he said pausing before continuing. "You know they say you can tell a lot about people by their eyes. So I suppose that means you're a very deep sort of guy."

"Deep as the ocean, maybe..." he laughed. He barely touched his food, taking Atemu's spare hand in his. "You, Atemu, are great. I'd like to reconsider my choice in always being alone for you. Would that be an inconvience to you?"

Atemu stared a moment in shock with Mako. "May I ask exactly what you're asking of me?" He looked down at his hand in Mako's and blushed again.

"I'm asking if you'd mind if I tried to spend more time with you..." he asked, blushing faintly.

"I don't see a problem with spending more time together. I would like to get to know you better," Atemu said with a small nod.

"So you'll go out with me again sometime?" he asked softly, giving his hand a faint squeeze.

Atemu nodded, his cheeks still tinged slightly pink. "Well, you did say you wanted to take me to the ocean sometime," Atemu replied a bit shyly.

"Perfect," he smiled. He reached over, stroking Atemu's cheek, eyes shining. "I'd hate to think about you never getting to see the ocean."

Atemu blushed again, looking down a bit. "You're very kind and I am looking forward to see what you're so passionate about."

Mako smiled. "I'm sure you'll love the ocean, too. If not...well, the beach has lots of sand...maybe it'll make you feel more at home," he teased, finally beginning to eat his sushi.

"Yes, I'm sure the sand will make me feel very at home, that is of course if I hadn't lived in the city," Atemu said with a wink. "But it would remind me of parts of home. So it would work."

Mako laughed. "Well, whatever, then I guess you feel just fine here in Domino. My bad." He smiled at Atemu. "So am I taking you home right after we finish eating," he asked, starting on his next to last piece of sushi, "or do you want to paint the town some more?"

Atemu smiled as he finished his own sushi. "I don't have a curfew. I live with roommates, so I can stay out. Is there anything you feel like doing?"

"That's all up to you. I just have finals to study for," he laughed. "Not that I don't mind staying out a bit with you. Well worth distraction, in my opinion."

"Well, maybe we could just walk around for a short time. I really don't want to be the reason you fail your finals," Atemu replied. He finished his tea and leaned back a little. "Would you like me to leave the tip?"

"Sounds fair enough," he said, pulling out enough bills to cover the meal. He smiled at Atemu. "And I don't want you to worry about me failing." He took Atemu's hand and pressed it to his lips. "It'd be worth it for you."

Once again, Atemu found himself blushing. "You really are something else." After a moment, he took his hand to pull out some bills from his wallet, leaving a heafty tip. "Honestly, I don't care what we do, it would just be nice to stay out a little longer."

Mako slipped his arm around Atemu's shoulders. "Walk around the park sound good?" he asked, smiling down at Atemu.

Atemu nodded. "Yes, it sounds very nice, thank you." He let himself be led out of the restaraunt. "So is there anything else interesting about yourself?"

"I'm the top rated water duelist...I can't think of much else..." he said, giving Atemu's shulder a squeeze. "I used to enter all those tournaments. Ah...life just caught up with me, though..."

"Oh! You play duel monsters? How exciting. I love the game myself, but I use to have to sneak out of the house to play tournaments or anything," Atemu said with a laugh. "Of course, after a while they stepped up security so I wasn't able to sneak out as much."

"Wow...sounds a bit psycho if you ask me." He shook his head. "Well, good, now we have a common interest." He turned to face Atemu full on, stroking his cheek gently. "That's always good for budding new relationships..."

Atemu looked up nervously. "You really know what to say things, don't you?" He smiled softly, leaning gently into the touch. "Maybe we can duel sometime."

"I'd like that..." he whispered. His eyes slipped shut as he leaned in, pressing a short kiss to Atemu's lips.

Atemu accepted the kiss, but stared at Mako once again in shock. "I'm not use to someone so forward yet sweet like yourself."

He smiled, stroking Atemu's cheek. "Just tell me to back off and I will...I wouldn't want to be a bother," he breathed.

"You don't have to back off, but I should tell you that I'm in sort of a confusing place in my life. I might not be the easiest person to understand," Atemu confessed, still looking up to Mako.

"That's okay. Perhaps I can offer some simplicity to your life. I'm not a really complicated person..." He hugged Atemu gently, kissing him lightly on the cheek.

Atemu hugged Mako back. "Thank you. I suppose we'll find out," he said with a smile. "Anything else I should know about you?"

"I like you and want to treat you right. That's all that matters," he said softly. "Anything else is just details."

Atemu blushed and laughed nervously. "You're too much, really." He pulled away a bit. "Come on, we should walk some more before you have to take me home."

"Why? This is just as fun," he teased, before he started walking again. He gazed up at the stars through the trees. "It's a beautiful night..."

Atemu smiled. "I've always loved the night. You should see Egypt at night, it feels magical." Atemu lead Mako around slowly. "I think I could stare at the stars all night."

"You'll have to take me to Egypt sometime then. I miss the stars when I can't seem them. You should see the stars out in open sea. They're so big and bright...nothing to outshine them." He turned to look back at Atemu. "Like your eyes."

Atemu looked over his shoulder, blushing and smiling. "I bet you say that to all the guys," he said with a wink. "I can imagine that the stars would look goregous out at sea, with no lights to interfere. In the city, they can seem so dull, or sometimes you can't see them at all and that's a shame."

"Only you, Atemu," he whispered, kissing Atemu again, gently.

Atemu didn't know what to say, he looked up nervously. "You know, I'm trying to figure out why you don't already have a boyfriend."

Mako laughed. "I only choose the best. Hadn't met him before I backed up into you. I'd say having a stinky locker as my luck day," he teased.

Atemu blushed furiously. "You really are too much, Mako. I don't think anyone has praised me so much in such a short time." He looked down, leaning against Mako. "Just tell me when you're sick of me."

Mako shook his head, chuckling. "Sick of you? Why would I be?" He held Atemu in his arms, petting at his hair. "I don't think you take compliments too well..."

"To be honest, I haven't received any until I got here to Japan. How are you suppose to take them?" Atemu asked, his head held up again, curious as to the answer.

"A compliment back, a thank you, a blushing smile...anything but insisting it's not true, through words or other means...I don't know you very well, but I know I like you, Atemu." He kissed Atemu again.

Atemu kissed Mako back gently before pulling back. "Thank you," he blushed. "I like you too."

"That's good to hear," he breathed. "Shall I take you back home now then so you can work on that report?" he teased softly.

"I probably should get started on it and you should probably get started on your studing," Atemu replied. "But I've had a lot of fun."

"Good...because I did too. Here, let me take you home," he said, as he began walking Atemu home. Standing on his doorstop, he stroked Atemu's cheek again. "So can I get one last kiss for good night?"

Atemu nodded. "Yes, you can," he answered with a shy smile. "And I'll see you at school, right?"

"Well. maybe not if you keep carrying enough books that you can't see," he teased. He slowly wrapped his arms around Atemu, pulling him into a kiss.

Atemu wrapped his arms around Mako's neck and slowly kissed the other boy back. Letting it linger a short time before pulling back. "Thank you for a wonderful evening, it definately surprised me."

"Glad you enjoyed yourself..." He yawned, stretching. "I certainly did..." He smiled, breaking contact with Atemu. "I'll see you later, okay?" he said, walking bakwards a few steps, before turning and waving over his shoulder.

"Good night," Atemu said with a smile. He watche Mako until he turned the corner and then let himself back inside the apartment, smiling softly.

Yarik looked up from where he laid on the couch, pouting. "Temu..." he whimpered. He jumped up, latching his arms around Atemu into a hug. "Why...?" he whined.

Atemu instantly held Yarik the moment the other latched onto him. "Why? Why, what" Ya-chan?"

Yarik pouted. "You went out with Mako..." he whimpered. "Why would you do that? Don't you like me?"

"Ya-chan, you know I love you very much and I told you I went out with him initially because I needed to get my books out," Atemu said, hugging Yarik tightly. "But, at the same time, you want to be with Bakura and I'm only a distraction."

Yarik looked down. "No you're not...I love you, Atemu. I...why would you...? I just don't understand," he sighed.

Atemu lifted Yarik's chin and looked into his eyes. "I love you very much. It's the reason, I told Yuugi how I felt about you and why we decided it was best for me to explore my feelings with you. But you told me that right now, it was Bakura you needed and that maybe in the future we could get together. Didn't you say that?"

Yarik whimpered. "I...I did, but...things aren't working out with Bakura. I thought...I thought you'd always be there..."

"I am here, Ya-chan," Atemu said, stroking Yarik's cheek. "But, am I just a back up plan? Do you not love me enough that I'm all you think about?"

"I...I...no, it's...not like that, Atemu." He looked down at his feet, swallowing. "Excuse me," he chocked out, pushing from him and walking out of the room.

Atemu followed Yarik. "Yarik, please don't push me away," Atemu said, taking Yarik's arm. "Come here, please." He pulled Yarik back into his arms. "Talk to me. I need to know what's going on, please."

Yarik avoided looking at Atemu. "It's nothing. I don't want to talk about it anyway...just...I'm sorry I just used you, then." He trembled. "Please let go of me."

Atemu refused to let go of Yarik yet, and instead, whispered into his ear. "You didn't use me. I love you very much and if you told me that you wanted me, you would still be my choice."

Yarik jerked his arm out of Atemu's grasp. "Don't," he whispered. "Just...get over me. It's for your own good."

Atemu looked to Yarik sadly. "I won't get over you. I'll always love you. I just thought you were the one that was over me." He sighed and looked away.

"I love you, Atemu. But I'm scared to leave Bakura. Because I know that...I don't know anything. All I know is I'm too scared to leave him. It's what hurts the most. I know if I ever leave him then I'll have proven something to him I don't want him to believe. I'd die if he thought I was just like everyone else. If he thought I..." He trembled, swallowing uneasily. "I need him to have someone he knows will be there. And I guess I'll be trying to prove that for the rest of my life to him. But I won't give up now."

Atemu nodded. "And my promise to you will forever stand. If you need me in anyway, I'll always be there for you. No matter who I'm with. I know you'll never be able to be only mine, but you mean the world to me. I chose you. I just want to mean something to someone and to have them hold me. They don't have to love me. I know you do that, I just... I'm so confused I don't even know what I'm talking about," Atemu said, sniffing softly. "I wish you much happiness."

"I didn't mean to hurt you," he whispered, sobbing lightly, before he rushed off to his room.

"Damn it," Atemu cursed, more to himself. "I love you damn it. Doesn't that mean anything!" He sighed and collapsed on the couch, crying softly.
