So, what's to tell? I recently completed my 4 year contract in the Army. Last base I was stationed too, Ft. Wilkins in Sunnydale, California, had some major apocalypse shit rain down and I lost a lot of buddies in the battle. I did the debriefing thing and seriously, I'm fine. As fine as you can be when you fight in an apopcalypse and survive ( Read more... )

*notices the pretty girl standing in the corner of the bar watching everything*

*approaches her, smiles*

Hey. Kind of crowded here tonight.

*looks around to see who the cute guy is talking to, doesn't see any other girls near her*

*smiles tentatively*

Um, were you talking to me? Or oh, you probably want to get to the bar. I can move, excuse me...

*moves to one side*

*looks at her with a mixture of confusion and amusement*

I was talking to you, Miss. I'm Aidan.

*looks over toward the bar*

I could attempt a trip over there if you'd let me buy you a drink.

*steps closer to him and looks around nervously before leaning close and lowering her voice*

Did you, um, work with them in the apocalypse they told me about?

*blushes a little at the nearness of him*

*nods his head, drops his voice*

I wouldn't say that word to loud. Makes people kind of edgy.

Your sisters and their boyfriends were real brave. I hope you don't mind me asking, but if you know about what went down here, what made you decide to move here?

I...this is the first time I've ever even seen anything like this.

*looks around again before turning back to him*

I didn't decide, not really. My brothers, they decided and this sounds maybe old fashioned, but I wanted our family together.

*smiles a little*

It may be old fashioned, but I have a lot of respect for that. I told myself that if I made it through, I was going back home and never leaving.

*eyes scan the crowd quickly, before looking back at her*

Maybe it's due to me growing up in Savannah, but I know there is a lot of unfinished business in this town. Some of it's my own, so I can't leave yet. Hopefully, one of these days, I'll be ready to walk away and go back home.

I, um, I couldn't ask you to do that.

*smiles nervously*

I'd probably be a terrible student, too.

You aren't asking me, Irene, I'm volunteering. In fact, you'll be helping me out. I've been slacking off with the working out since I got out of the Army. This is a good way for me to get back into shape.

*leans against the wall, studies her for a moment*

I have a feeling you'll surprise yourself with how fast you catch on.

You don't look like you're out of shape to me.

*steals a look at him before looking away, blushing*

I don't know, I can be clumsy sometimes. How, um where would you teach me? And I'd have to talk to my sister Isabella, she worries. But you said you know her, didn't you?

I could teach you out in the back of my new place. One thing about the apocalypse, it opened up a lot of real estate opportunities. We can start with basic self defense and teaching you how to use a cross bow.

*nods his head*

Yes, Ma'am, we all lived in the school together for a couple of weeks when we were fighting together.

Lunch would be great. Noon tomorrow, it's a date.

*flashes her a smile, grabs a napkin off a near by table and pulls out a pen from his pocket, jots down a number for her*

This is my cell phone. If you need to get ahold of me, for whatever reason, it's always on.

*blushes a little at the word 'date'*

Um, should I meet you somewhere tomorrow?

*folds the napkin carefully and puts it in her purse*

I could pick you up wherever you're staying. I'll just need an address.

irene_hicks January 16 2005, 22:38:43 UTC
Ok, it's...um, I don't even know my new address.

*feels her face getting hot and looks down, embarassed*

Isabella moved us into apartments in her building. I could maybe call you with the address tomorrow?
