I know. I'm currently reading The Search and am amazed at how little time it took for companies to dominate the market.

I dunno, I remember when AltaVista and Yahoo both dominated the search market for a few years. I mean, yeah, Google's owned search in the UK since most people got broadband in 2002 but there was real competition before that. Amazon and Ebay owned their respective markets from the get go, which is pretty scary..
