This essay, Common People was one of the best critiques of ~this american life~ that I've read in a long time. He makes the simple but often overlooked point that "We always make it about race in America, when it really has a lot more to do with class than anything else."

My all-time favorite ever feminist book is The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf. It truly changed my life.

So many myths! :) Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out. Have you seen that movie Miss Representation, about women in the media? I'm not sure if it's on DVD or not yet, but I've been wanting to see it.

Have you read many of the classics? I'm not sure I like all of these, but they're the books that come to mind when I think of "classic" feminism ( ... )

Hi! Thanks for all the suggestions! I've actually read a fair amount of these; my education was weirdly skewed away from the dead-white-men into women and people of color and feminist thinkers and what not, but I've never read a few of these...I'll add them to my shame list, haha. :)
