I understand some of the reasons why people have friends only journals, though sometimes it does annoy me. I almost had an issue with a troll a while ago that almost caused me to go friends only, but she STFU and I bit the bullet.

I have not been on LJ for a bit (as you know) and the friends that have gone *friends only* for fear that the old friends would call them out to the new is just amusing and I had to post...

i've been friends-only almost since i started the journal for job-related reasons. of course, it used to be that googling me brought up a story i sold involving a live demonstration of female ejaculation. not exactly what i'd like the new york times to see.

I don't get "Friends only" either. Most of my stuff is public. If I have something I only want my LJ buds to read I make it a friends only post. Anyway, the people I know who have "friends only" never post anything worth keeping bottled up, IMHO.

I can only guess is that they want the club mentality. "Just for us".

I've always been friends-only, and that's because I post about my personal life, which is something I only want my friends to see. It's not the rest of the world's business. This is how I stay in touch with my friends, esp. since moving away, and therefore it will always be friends-only.

I went "friends only" a while ago because my Brother's Boss started reading my LJ and started asking me stuff about what I was writing whenever I'd visit my brother at his store.

It was just so weird and uncomfortable having an almost complete stranger asking questions about personal stuff.

I'd never expect the "FO" tag to stop someone who was really determined but it made visiting my brothers more pleasant anyhow :)! -Mystrys
