Book 16 was Tiassa by Steven Brust. Not my favorite in the series, but it was a good romp and I liked the change of perspective. The only thing I DIDN'T like was the narration by Paarfi, but that's because I absolutely could not stand the Khaavren books, never finished them beyond the first one, and although I'd really love to have the backstory ( Read more... )

I can recommend the Bradbury Report by Steven Polansky, it's slow and intimate near future, deals with cloning. Definitely not your typical sci-fi.

I'm finishing up R. Scott Reiss's Black Monday. Near future action/adventure, the world's oil supply gets infected with an oil eating bug.
