i think it's important to understand that lending money to people who couldn't pay it back was only a small part of the problem... deciding that recursively reselling bad debt to others was a great idea is a more substantial part of the problem.

I caught the musical analysis of that song on Saturday's "Weekend Edition." To go from a plaintive Yiddish ditty (my mom knows the original lyrics) to the brilliant, angry paen - it made me ask aloud "So when will OUR unemployed rise up off their angry asses and march on Washington? Or will they be too busy paying the "Poor Tax" applying for food stamps and other benefits?"
