That's so freaking obnoxious. I don't care if it's cultural difference or not, THAT'S ABYSMALLY RUDE.

Kain agrees.

gahhhh yeah...

in middle school i was a bit chubbier than now and my grandfather was like "you koetana~" which made me cry.

I think size is a japan/east asia thing. In high school my korean friend's mom would be like "oh, you look thinner" etc which made me really self conscious when going to her house. The mom was also really harsh with her looks standard with her daughter.
(kinda unrelated but bentsuu(how you're pooping) is a japan/east asia(?) thing too. people have no problem talking about how they're constipated, etc)

That was still a really asshole thing for the guy to say. The way he said it too! The last part was so unnecessary...

agree with erika! it seems to be an asia thing...and I've experienced it a lot too, both at home and being in Japan.

I'd like to say it's an elementary kid-like way of Japanese guys showing affection, even if it's super offensive. Even it really hurts you, if you try to explain that to them they don't seem to understand it...so...hopefully you can just try to let it roll off your back?
