Summary: Hayato and Ryu lost their chance at love because of feuds and war. So Hayato promised Ryu that the next time they meet, their story would have a better ending. But more than a hundred years later, their descendants, Jin and Kame are aslo starting to suffer the same fate. Will Hayato's promise and Jin and Kame's love for each other be able to overcome even death and time?
The two tired men stood facing each other, their swords drawn. It was already sunset and the light from the sun cast a red glow on the countless number of lifeless bodies lying around them. It was the final battle to decide who the next heir to the throne was and everything was up to them both.
“I can’t do it.” said the taller man suddenly, dropping his sword.
Tears formed on the eyes of his opponent as he heard those words.
“I don’t want to do it too, but we have to.” the other man replied as he held his sword steadier.
“No, we don’t.” said the taller man. “We could just run away you know. Just let them decide who the next heir will be. We don’t have to be involved in this.”
“We could, but we’d just be hunted down. And I’d rather die in your hands than die in the hands of some stranger.” replied the other man.
The taller man sighed and said, “I’m still not doing it. I refuse to battle with you and I definitely don’t want to be the one to kill you. You know I can’t. You’re the most precious person in my life.”
The taller man’s opponent was now shaking with tears.
“Then let me end my life I order to stop all of this madness.” the other man said quietly.
Then without warning, the shorter man turned his sword towards him and stabbed himself. He fell to the ground and blood was leaving him, fast.
“No!” shouted the taller man as he rushed towards his dying opponent.
The taller man knelt down and cradled the dying man’s head in his arms. Tears were also falling from his eyes.
“I’m so sorry it had to end this way. If only we could turn back time. I’d give anything just to be with you.” said the dying man as he wiped away the tears of the taller man.
The taller man held him even tighter. “Sssh, stop talking now. Nothing bad is going to happen. It won’t end this way. You’ll be alright; I’ll take care of you. So please, please, hang in there.” pleaded the taller man.
They were both crying but the tears were silent. Both men were silent for a long time.
“I love you, Hayato.” said the dying man softly, his voice barely a whisper. There was a smile on his face.
“I love you too.” replied the taller man.
But as Hayato said those words, the dying man’s body fell limp and Hayato felt the life from his beloved leave him.
Hayato cried and cried on the bloody clothes of the now dead man.
“Time and society it seems, did not want us to be together. But I promise you, someday, we will meet again and by then, I hope our story won’t be tragic like this. I love you so much, Ryu.”
And with those words, Hayato took the sword from Ryu’s hand and also stabbed himself. He fell beside the lifeless Ryu and as he lay dying, he planted one last kiss on Ryu’s lips.
“Nothing, not even death can separate us.” were Hayato’s last words before he died.
And as the sun continued to disappear over the horizon, the two lovers lay in a pool of blood, Ryu still cradled in Hayato’s arms and both men had small smiles visible on their lips.
More than a hundred years later..
Jin Akanishi stood outside the school gates with a frown on his face.
“Why do I even have to attend school?” he grumbled.
A hand gripped his shoulders and a voice said, “Because there is an all-girls school just across the street, you idiot. That’s why.”
Jin spun around and saw his two friends, Nakamaru and Koki smiling at him.
Jin smiled back too. “Well it’s not like they’ll come here. Anyway, at least you guys are here to die of boredom with me.”
The three friends laughed together as they walked through the school gates. When they got to their classroom, they were greeted by pure mayhem.
There was a tall guy juggling three plastic balls while tap-dancing at the same time in the front. Another guy was running around with plastic cups over his eyes. There was also a weird guy carrying and waving a box of knives around.
The three friends watched in horror as they saw the guy with the plastic cups over his eyes bump into the tall juggling, tap-dancing guy and the ball from the tall guy’s hand flew towards the guy holding a box of knives. The ball hit the guy on the head and it caused the knives from the boxes to fly towards Jin, Nakamaru and Koki. Luckily, the three were able to duck and the knives missed them by inches.
“Oi Yamapi! Watch where you’re going! You almost got someone killed!” yelled a stern looking guy at the back to the student with the plastic cups.
Yamapi looked at Jin and his friends apologetically and bowed. “Gomenasai!” he said.
“It’s okay.” Nakamaru replied.
Yamapi raised his head and smiled at them. “Hi, my name is Yamapi. Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too.” said Koki. “My name is Koki and these are my friends, Nakamaru and Jin.” Koki gestured towards them.
“Oh yeah, I forgot.” said Yamapi. “I’ll introduce you to the others. The guy who was juggling over there, he’s Taguchi. The guy who was carrying a box of knives is Ueda and the guy who just yelled at me is Ryo-chan.” Yamapi then flashed a big smile in Ryo’s direction.
Yamapi continued to introduce them to the other students and the three friends smiled awkwardly at their classmates. Then Yamapi led them towards Ryo.
“Don’t worry.” Ryo told them as they neared the back. “We may seem dangerous and weird, but we’re really harmless. Well, sort of.” he chuckled.
The three just continued to smile and they proceeded to three empty seats at the back. As the noise began to subside, Jin looked to his left and saw that there was still an empty seat there. A few moments later, their teacher walked in and started to check attendance.
“Kamenashi Kazuya?” he called out.
No answer. “Kamenashi Kazuya?” he repeated.
Still no answer.
“Tsk, tsk. First day of school and he’s already late.”
Suddenly, the door burst open and in tumbled a boy with jet black hair and medium built.
“P- pre- present!” he managed to spit out. He was breathing heavily and it looked like he was being chased by ghosts.
The teacher frowned and directed him to the empty seat beside Jin. Still, breathing heavily, Kamenashi walked towards the seat beside Jin and sat down.
Jin looked at his seatmate and studied his features. Kamenashi had a soft flawless face and his eyes were deep and serious. Jin felt like he knew those eyes from somewhere but he couldn’t exactly place it.
Kamenashi caught Jin looking at him. “What is it?” he asked. “Is there something on my face?”
“Uh, no.I just thought you looked familiar.” Jin replied.
“I see. Hmmm, I don’t think we’ve met before. Anyway, my name is Kamenashi Kazuya. You can call me Kame for short.” Kame stuck out his hand for Jin to shake.
“I’m Akanishi Jin and you may call me Jin for short. Nice to meet you, Kame.” said Jin as he shook Kame’s hand.
“You over there at the back!” the teacher’s voice rang out. “Stop talking and listen up!”
All heads turned towards Jin and Kame.
“Hai.” they both replied.
As their teacher turned to write something on the board, Koki, Nakamaru and Jin looked at each other.
“First day of school and you already got yourself in trouble.” whispered Koki.
Then he and Nakamaru laughed silently at Jin’s misfortune.
Kame watched as Jin started whacking his friends’ heads. “Hmmm, he does seem familiar too.” he thought to himself.
