Tutorial #8 - Hayden Header

Okay, this was requested by spurgleroxmysox.

*made using PSP8*

making this:

PLEASE DON'T COPY THIS HEADER, USE THE STEPS TO CREATE SOMETHING THAT IS YOUR OWN; THAT'S MAKES IT MORE FUN, ANYWAY :)

1. First I cropped two images (1st 400x250, 2nd 250x250); both are from DH.NET.

2. Next I pasted image 1 over image 2 and erased white part over 2nd image; merge layers together. Then I sharpened it and softened the skin (my settings) and then used the sharpen tool (my settings) and sharpened the eyes and the bottom lip on both hayden images.

3. I thought it looked a little too bright, so I created a new layer and filled it with black (#000000) and set it to soft light at opacity 86.

>

looks kinda crappy at the moment, doesnt it? yeah i thought so too xD

4. Next, to make the image a little bit darker, I duplicated it and set it to burn opacity 30 and desaturated (shift+h) that layer. now i have this:

5. I thought it looked a little too orange then, so i went and created an adjustment layer (layers > new adjustment layer > hue/saturation/lightness) and set the saturation to -40. (my settings)

6. Next I started on the coloring. I created a new layer and filled it with dark blue (#000636) and set it to difference opacity 32.

>

7. Next I created another new layer and filled it with this sort of beige color (#A18563) and set it to multiply opacity 50.

>

8. So now that my coloring's done, I took this light texture by teh_indy and set it IN BETWEEN the new adjustment layer and the difference layer to lighten opacity 100.

>

9. Now for the text. (my settings) i used white (#FFFFFF). I converted that vector layer into a raster layer (right click + convert to raster layer) and set it to soft light opacity 100. I then went up to add a shadow to the text. (effects > 3d effects > drop shadow) (my settings)

>

10. Then I went and created another vector layer (just select the text tool) and typed "version" in all caps and with a space in between each letter. (my settings). I then positioned half of it over the "hayden christensen" text from before and converted it to a raster layer.

11. For the next step, you may want to zoom in (I do usually). I selected the selection tool (the marquee box thing) and cut off the part of "version" that was over "hayden christensen"

12. I then also set that text layer to soft light opacity 100 and did another drop shadow on it. (repeat step 9 if you can't remember)

13. Almost done. Now merge the layers and go and add a border (image > add borders) (my settings)

and now you're done :)

**Opacities for layers may vary depending upon your image; don't be afraid to experiment!**

I hope this also helps someone :D please let me know what you all thought!!
